Oh yeah, I forgot about Grubb.
We should have that one left. Juco transfer would give us some more next level experience.

^ So now we play the waiting game. Seattle PI Newspaper honors another recruit as a basketball all-star. Boys basketball All-Stars P-I STAFF Tim Diederichs Snohomish, senior
The 6-foot-9 Loyola Marymount recruit was the focal point of the offense, averaging 14 points, nine rebounds and 3.5 assists. The Panthers went 25-3 and finished fifth at the 4A state tournament. Diederichs was an All-Wesco North forward and team captain. He grew up watching and competing against his older brother, Rob, who plays at SPU. He credits his brother and his father, Paul, for helping him mature as a player. "Our team at Snohomish was like a big family," he said. "It's been an honor to play with such a great group of guys and coaches."

I believe we won’t have too many scholarships for next year’s class. The list of recruits we are going after is probably smaller. Of the guys we are going after I would love to get James Rahon, a shooter out of San Diego. There are a lot of programs after him but if I’m correct his HS coach is former LMU coach John Olive. I’m not sure if this will help or hurt us.

I read we did offer Klay...another prospect we are after is Colin Chieverton, a 6-5 junior wing from Northern California. Rahon,Chieverton, and Thompson all seem to be high prospects. I would like to get any of them.

Thanks for the heads up ironlions. I'll keep an eye on these prospects. Either would be promising for us.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have seen a lot of people talking about prospect rankings. And it is kind of funny to look back and see how often they prove to be pointless. Don't get me wrong, if a guy is ranked top 50 he is probably pretty damn good. But to say the people doing the rankings can tell you how good a player will be is kind of crazy. Lets take a look back.
David Pendergraft 20th ranked SF J.P. Batista Unranked as a JC transfer Jeremy Pargo Unranked at PG Matt Bouldin 15 Ranked SF
LMU Brandon Worthy NR Wes Wardrop NR
But my guess is we would take both of them over again.
If Pepp had any shot at getting Tyrone Shelley into school we would be in trouble cuz the kid is REALLY Good. But there is a reason a guy goes from choosing between UCLA, Washington, Uconn, Illinois, Etc. to the WCC. All those schools knew that he wasn't getting into school. I guess for pepp they held on to a prayer and people probably looked at it and said wow vance can really recruit. But unfortunately for them the kid had NO chance at making grades. And his playing AAU ball in the spring verified it.
The mid majors of the world aren't going to sign the cream of the crop guys. And to think these scouting services are the end all be all when it comes to evaluating talent is crazy. The Cream of the crop they get to see time and time again. The rest, maybe 2 or 3 times total in the aau circuit. For mid majors it is all about getting kids with that something special. and hope you might find a diamond in the rough. Because even the most ardent lion fan will admit, if it comes down to LMU or Kentucky... It is a NO BRAINER. I guess all we can do is wait for that diamond to emerge.

Good points, very good points. I've noticed many of these star ratings look almost random when it comes to 3-0 star recruits. I'd like us to pick up some of these high recruits. Jenkins had a few major schools interested. But the biggest burden is on the coaches to either find or build these kids into diamonds .

I don't want to start any rumors, but I read somewhere that Shelley had academic problems in high school. That doesn't bode well for him in college.
Go Lions.
