The successful 06-07 season saw the lions advance to the WCC Championships and sweep crosstown rival Pepperdine 3-0.
Now it's time to prepare for an even better season that'll lead the lions to the NCAAs.
Meet the new lions.
Taylor Shead, 5-10, Guard. Plano West High School, TX
PR: As a senior, she averaged 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 3.2 assists per game. She helped her team reach the regional semifinals, serving as team captain. Shead earned first team All-District 5A honors and is a member of the National Honor Society. As a junior, she helped lead her team to the Texas 5A State Championship.
Lauren Wilkins, 6-1, Forward. Jesuit High School Portland, ORE
PR: Wilkins earned first team All-State and first team All-State Tournament honors . She was named Metro League Player of the Year and helped her team finish second in the state. This season, she averaged 12.5 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.2 steals per game. A three-sport athlete, she was also a first-team All-State selection in soccer and was named the Metro League Player of the Year.
Renahy Young, 5-8, Guard. Redondo Union High School, CA
PR: An All-American this season after earning Cal Hi Sports All-State honors last year. As a junior, she earned second team All-CIF honors and first team All-Bay League honors after averaging 14 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds per game. Young had an outstanding summer with her club team, Swish, helping them win the Oregon Trail Tournament. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Oregon Trail Tournament, as well as the River City Classic Tournament and the Nike Nationals.
Melanie Ysaguirre, 6-0, Forward. Troy High School, Fullerton CA.
PR: Street & Smith Preseason All-American this season after helping her team to a state championship two out of the last three years. As a junior, Ysaguirre was a first team All-Freeway League selection after averaging 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists per game. She teamed with Young on the Swish team that won the Oregon Trail Tournament in the summer of 2006.
