San Diego's upset win over the Dons makes this game an almost "must win" for the Lions if I understand the WCC tie-breaker correctly. If San Diego loses to BYU and the Lions lose to USF, San Diego gets the nod based on head to head. Santa Clara plays Portland who hasn't won a game yet so the Broncos will likely win. If the Broncos and Lions lose the Lions would win the tie-breaker against the Broncos based on their 2 wins against them. Now is the time for a signature win against a favored but beatable USF team at their place! My guess is Dons will be favored by 5 or so.

FWIW the Standings from the official WCC site has us at 5th ahead of San Diego then Santa Clara due to overall win percentage. ESPN app has USD and SCU flipped...so 🤷♂️

I didn’t think official league standings use non-conference games for seeding.

Lions are 8 point underdogs in the WCC game of the week. Important win if we can pull it off.

My guess is that if there is a 3 way or greater tie then overall record is the first tie breaker. That is why LMU is listed ahead of USD and SCU since all have the same conference record. In a simple (2 way) tie, then head to head, followed by whichever team has a victory over a higher standing team. The interesting part is if LMU, USD and SCU lose and Pepperdine wins. Then you have a 4 way tie and Pepperdine has a win against SMC.

Lions played perhaps their best game of the year! Dunlap’s rotations were spot on and everyone contributed. Well done Lions! On to Vegas!

Well, well, well, Our coach who can't recruit, can't game plan, has a bad personality, and who lost his team weeks ago must be damn lucky. How else do you explain recent developments? Well, just maybe CMD recruited winners who aren't afraid of the moment. Just maybe his players were so well drilled that they beat one of the top teams in the conference at their place by playing smart, selfless, basketball. No way this team belonged in the play-in game. I love the contributions from players up and down the lineup. Bring on the WCC tourney!

Best coached game I’ve watched by Dunlap! Stuck with a game plan and players executed. Didn’t over sub and he didn’t pull them after a mistake. He let his players play. They played loose and didn’t take any bad shots on perimeter.
They contained Ferrari by doubling on screens and took him out of his game.
20 wins.
Let’s go to Vegas and shake things up!

before conference play started i predicted that we would be 8-8 in conference and finish 6th, hoping we can finish better than 6th but all around good season so far. Didn't really exceed expectations but definitely didn't fall flat like in previous seasons either. This is the first time i can remember we will actually get a bye in the tournament. Definitely have a chance to win a game or two as well (as it looks like we will be playing either BYU or USF).

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff!
Everyone contributed, but I want to especially point out that Eli really came through with some clutch free throws and excellent all around play, and I have to say Johannson’s three-pointer was absolutely fearless. Great win for the program.

I really like Scott’s play- he waits for his moments and then uses his amazing ability to score under the basket. Also rebounds with the best. Don’t forget Petr who made some great inside baskets and played well on D! Some gratification for his efforts here at season end. Guys seem to be pumped for Vegas.

Probably right; sigh.
I'm happy about our winning season and especially our 8-8 WCC record. Also, CMD did a smoother job of coaching the last 2 games. But I wish we could hold on for at least another season. Don't we have him locked in through 2021 ? Doubt he will be snached from us before then.
We can't rule out the element of luck this year; this very fine win was I believe our first over a team with a winning record since Georgetown in November. Solid wins but not quite there when looking for a "signature win".
