Just talked to friend who has seen some of these kids play. Said Wainwright was one of the LA kids really starting to rise a bunch in the eyes of coachs. He said Mashack might be the biggest riser in the whole city. Thought unlikely to LMU, but was unaware of the legacy. He stressed DaRon Holmes. Said he'd absolutly change the game for LMU. "That kid is an NBA player. Stetch 4 NBA prospect. Only reason I bring him up is because a UCLA assistant was worried about how connected "one of Marquette's coach's" was to him.

During the past couple of years, I've reffed several of these players during the high school season. Ribet vs. San Gabriel Academy, Etiwanda vs. Westchester and others, with all these teams having players that are being recruited by LMU. During each game, I found myself wondering, why wasn't Coach Dunlap and LMU recruiting these players. I'm so glad and relieved to see Coach Johnson hit the ground running and recruiting these players. Lock a couple up in this years class and the momentum will build for next year. I don’t personally know why CMD didn’t recruit locally, but my guess is that he didn’t want to deal with the parents. Anyone who has coached or refereed at any level can recite many less than pleasant interchanges with parents. We all know how CMD believed he was a one man show. I think he just didn’t want to be forced into a bunch of discussions with angry/frustrated/ better ideas parents. In a different note - I find Coach SJ’s seemingly shotgun approach to making offers interesting. Maybe it’s the best approach given his late entry into the LMU recruiting foray. ... fire a bunch of pellets into the air and see if you can hit something. I wonder if he or his new assistants have been building relationships with any of these offerees over the past couple years.

From what I have researched (not much) but all of these kids have had relationships with at least one of the assistant coaches. He isn't randomly firing off scholarships to local kids who haven't been scouted by someone on the staff. Still kind of crazy that I think more offers have been given out to LA kids in these last few days than in the last few years haha.

There’s been more offers to SoCal kids in the last 10 days than we’ve seen in 10 years! No fruit yet but kudos to the new staff for at least trying.

The last time we had this many LA offers we landed Kyron Cartwright and Elijah Stewart so I have no issues with throwing the net wide.
A vast majority of the offers are for the 2021 class so there is a while to go... I’m glad Coach Johnson and staff have hit the ground running.
Go Lions!

We offered 2022 Winward point guard Dylan Andrews. Looks like Oregon did the same later in the day and already has offers from UCLA, USC and Arizona.

As a father of a graduating high school senior - the closer she goes to school next year the better for us parents during these uncertain times. This might be the best time for Coach to cast a large net locally - other parents might be thinking the same. We might end up with some higher level recruits than expected this year.

Had to go fetch my daughter out of her freshman dorm at the University of Utah. 3 day trip with 2 drivers. And when we were about to hit SLC-the earthquake hit. We were on the ground in SLC for 3 1/2 hours before heading back south (spent night in St. George).

Another day, another 2021 offer. This time it's 6'6" wing Glenn Taylor from Cheyenne HS in Las Vegas. Taylor mentioned his great conversation with Coach Johnson in announcing the offer. Lots of articles and info out there. Here's a HS mix tape -
