Pepperdine got a good commitment from Robbie Heath who was at D2 last year where he led all freshmen in D2 in scoring (24.6 ppg) Some really good players at the D2 level after falling through the cracks - Shabazz from USF is another example.

Interesting - hadn't been keeping my eye on that connection. Something more to do as we idle away time with this virus lurking.

Pepperdine center Jackson Stormo is transferring to Siena. I’d still take Lightening McQueen.

Stormo was not an impact player even after two seasons

Per Verbal Commits. 4/21/2020 - Pepperdine 2021 C Carson Basham (6-10, 210, 2★) committed to Pepperdine. Another great recruit for Pepperdine. Basham had a lot of offers, including several WCC school. Dunlap offered him last year.
There are going to be some great recruiting battles between Johnson and Romar in the years to come.

Purdue transfer Matt Haarms has committed to BYU over Kentucky and Texas Tech. The 7-3 Center is immediately eligible.
Crazy to have two 7-3 centers in the WCC

Gonzaga still recruiting like a power
BYU lost their main guys but it still BYU. They have a pipeline they can rely on.
Saint Mary's I'm most interested in, because they were showing holes last year and have to replace almost 50ppg a game from their best two players.
Pacific looks solid because they were more balanced but still have to replace Tripp.
After the top 3 it is always a crapshoot where a team finishes. But one thing is happening. Decent recruits are showing up at other places now because the conference is getting better. Damon Stoudamire was a really nice addition to Pacific and Romar just knows how to get guys in. Stan will further that trend.
The one area that will test Johnson, perhaps more than the teams itself, will be the WCC officiating. Will the WCC officials ignore him like they did with Dunlap, or retaliate like they did with Good? I know our coaches have cost us games due to their "relationship" with the officials over the past 10 years.

Jabe Mullins probably won't be a huge scorer, but the kid can flat out play. Great handle, vision, touch, athleticism, leadership, etc... he'll fit right in, I'm guessing as a 6th or 7th man next year. Saxen, I'm much less convinced by. Six' ten" shot blocker on defense...no handle, shot or post game on offense. Best case, that shot improves, and he's a unicorn. Worst case, doesn't develop and isn't a huge impact guy. I'd hate to see a WCC team slide, but their spot is most up-for-grabs.

Is Terry Porter on his last legs at Portland? He cleaned house including his own son and signed 5 JC players in an attempt to win now (my take on the situation).

If not “last legs,” they’re terribly weak legs. Not too many folks following UP basketball see Porter continuing after this season. It’s not been a good run for Coach.
