To be fair to Denver U, they have a strong history in Skiing (surprised?), ice hockey, Men’s and Women’s lacrosse and Men’s soccer.
They also compete in Men’s and Women’s tennis and golf, and Women’s volleyball. They don’t play baseball or softball
Men’s bb NET rating is around 340. Ugh.
Seattle’s athletic participation fits in well with other WCC schools. Their NET ranking last season was 234. They did play 3 PAC 12 teams, which is more than LMU ever plays. They’re probably the only school that makes any sense.

one problem with Seattle U-they already dropped out of the WCC when they downgraded their programs to D-III. WCC would be better off adding Denver and Phoenix markets-they already get Seattle through Gonzaga (most of their alums live there).

my prediction: GCU or CBU. Or both.

id take GCU first. Bigger school, great facilities in all sports (11K kids living on-campus!), gets WCC into top-10 market (Phoenix). CBU gets you the IE (maybe).

GCU would immediately have the second best arena and second best fan base in the league. CBU wouldnt be far behind. Their arena is better than all but GU and BYU's and they average more fans then everyone outside of GU and BYU as welll. Both schools average more fans than St Mary;s Both would be good additions.

“Gonzaga coach Mark Few will miss two exhibition games and the first game of the regular season after he was arrested last month on suspicion of driving under the influence.”

Wow, missing games Zags will win by 150 points- what a draconian punishment.

WCC play is going to be a absolute dog fight this year. Glad we have some tough non- conference opponents to get us battle ready.

Preseason KenPom rankings are out! See below for WCC rankings:
1. Gonzaga (#1) 2. USF (#34) 3. BYU (#38) 4. Saint Mary's (#42) 5. LMU (#69) 6. Santa Clara (#124) 7. Pacific (#127) 8. Pepperdine (#147) 9. San Diego (#180) 10. Portland (#330)
Definitely surprised by USF being rated so highly, but they were a good team last year and is returning almost everyone. Obviously these don't mean much, but this is by far the best preseason rankings the WCC has had by any measure in a long time. Excited for the year to start.
Edit: In my 10 years following LMU, last year was the first time I have seen us crack the top 100. I am fairly certain this is the highest KenPom ranking we have ever had. I think we have the talent to justify it too, only concern is our complete lack of length down low, going to be hard to compete with the elite teams on our schedule (FSU, SMU/Missouri, and Nevada) without a shot blocking threat to protect the paint.

Why is USF so high? I need to look at their team more closely.
