Zags could win it all this year.

Honestly I hope they do. That only helps us as we take aim to be a real program. I want us to be a consistent 3-4 bid conference with 1-2 in the NIT. If we could have 5 playing in the real postseasons every year that’s be outstanding. I don’t mind if that 4th NCAA team becomes a rotating one but that would mean our conference has national respect like an A-10 MWC or AAC.

Saint Mary's lost soundly to a good Memphis team today in the Bad Boy Mower Crossover tournament held in South Dakota. The Gaels didn't look very strong inside today.

Current Kenpom rankings:
1. Gonzaga - #1 2. Saint Mary's - #80 3. BYU - #87 4. USF - #95 5. Pepperdine - #106 6. Santa Clara - #108 7. Pacific - #121 8. LMU - #148 9. San Diego - #154 10. Portland - #273
I agree with this, we probably are only a 1 tourney team this year, but could see 3-4 NIT bids. Saint Mary's just couldn't handle Memphis's athleticism and intensity this morning, they have definitely taken a step back. BYU could make a run at the tourney but they need to figure out how to get a lot of new pieces to play together. Overall the conference is definitely stronger (we usually only have 4-5 teams in the top 150), excited to watch better and more competitive basketball in the WCC this year.
As for LMU, number one thing I will be watching is our tempo. Marquette is usually more up-tempo (60th in the country last year), where with CMD we were consistently bottom ten in the country. I think we have the players to excel in an up-tempo style as well so should be fun to watch. Also looking to see Markusson get more opportunities in the post, Leaupepe's development, and contributions from our Freshman. Nervous about Covid, but hopefully our players and coaches stay safe. I can't wait for the season to big, go lions!

Gonzaga is absolutely loaded, looking like a true #1 team. Early in the game vs Kansas but they are loaded with talent and extremely well coached. Nobody in the WCC should come within 20 points of them.

No kidding. Gonzaga has won with skills and experience against the blue blood teams, but this was a rare time where they simply over powered them.
What a team. Let’s go beat them! Can’t wait to see our Jalin , Eli, Dameane and Mattias match up.
Pepperdine plays UCLA tomorrow.

Solid analysis, this not Coach Few recruiting underrated 3 star recruits, and then developing them for 3-4 years so they can then hang with the blue bloods through great team work and execution. Mark Few is loaded with top 50 talent, and they physically dominated Kansas. Incredibly impressive win for the Zags, will be fun to see how we match up with them.

slb - I think the Waves will beat the Bruins (based on the play in the first UCLA game vs San Diego State).

Gonzaga just ran a pretty good Auburn team out the gym, Gonzaga is looking really good. USF also in a battle with #4 Virginia right now, this would be a big win for the conference. Saint Mary's also had a great comeback vs Northern Iowa last night.

Wow, huge win for USF. They have some elite guard play and good shooting big men. Big win for the conference too.

San Francisco deserved to win that game. A lot of talent and I liked how they spread the floor on Virginia. Todd Golden really game planned well. They sorta beat them at their own game.
But Lions you’re right. I think not having big crowds will have an effect on the big programs. A lot of them are fueled by the big stadiums or their traveling crews in these tournaments.
What a massive day for the WCC when a non “top 3” just knocked of a big time opponent.

How do you lose to UMASS Lowell and then go ahead and beat the #4 team in the Country with Virgina.
Hopefully UMASS Lowell ends up being sneaky good at the Dons can push for another WCC at-large bid.
It always *feels* icky to me, but we want every WCC team to win every game until they play us.
