I urge all of you on this board to spend 20 minutes (yes, it is an investment of time, but could reap much ROI) reading the above article (thanks raynman 10 for this) AND the actually 9 page letter the alumni, boosters, and fans of USF basketball submitted to the board of trustees (this letter can be found at www.sfgate.com/sports/). That letter, which is signed by a mix of 7-figure donors and 2-fiure donors, is absolutely spot on with the approach to making university administration take action. We could learn much from this. Many of the points that they bring up in their letter (excluding the gross negligence of Debbi-Gore Man), apply to how LMU runs it Althetic Department. No marketing department. Very low current student attendance, with little pride in the basketball program (which translates later in 5-10 years of diminished financial support from these same alumni donors). Minimal follow up on non-renewal season ticket holders. You get the picture. I URGE YOU TO SPEND THE TIME TO READ THAT 9 PAGE LETTER AND ASK SIMILAR QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR PROGRAM. Go Lions! |
