Now that our basketball season has come to an end I wanted to start a thread (and perhaps call attention to) our guy's soccer team who are currently ranked #10 in the nation! We've got a legitimate contender on our hands here and I'm personally looking forward to following along as the season progresses. www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men

The men’s soccer team is not the only nationally ranked team, the women’s beach volleyball team is currently ranked #7 in the country, and just came off a 4-1 win over #8 Cal team. In their opening weekend they had a match against #4 Florida State where they lost 4-1. This weekend they will have a match against a top 5 USC team. Unfortunately it’s not easy to watch the matches since most matches are not streamed, but lmu is the favorite in the conference, and has a chance to go to the final ncaa tournament for the first time has a team.

And now up to #5! Wow - when is the last time we've had a Top 5 team in a major sport? www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/menSaint Mary's is right on our tails at #7 - Winner of that game (our last regular game of the season on April 11) could get one of the top seeds in the NCAA tourney and be a legitimate contender to take it all home.

#6 LMU takes on #10 Saint Mary's this afternoon in Moraga.
If the Lions win they take the WCC crown and snag the automatic bid to the tourney.

Thanks for the heads up lamb It was an exciting finish - the Lions wanted the win more! Another feather in AD Pinken’s cap although he likely wasn’t directly responsible for the quality team the Lions fielded.

The Lion's officially found out their place in the bracket this morning.
IMO they got hosed - They finished the season undefeated, #4 in Top Drawer Ranking & #7 in United Soccer Coaches poll, however not only did they not get one of the #1-8 seeds, but have to open up against #17 Marquette & a 2nd round matchup with #3 Indiana....
Seems like they focus a lot more on RPIs (where LMU somehow finished #48) vs. rankings (#4 / #7)
That being said you often have to beat the best to make it far in the tourney so let's go Lions.

If you look at the lions schedule it was incredibly weak, the RPI ranking makes sense unfortunately. Link to the bracket here: www.ncaa.com/brackets/soccer-men/d1/2021 Saint Mary's was also top 10 in the country until we beat them and they didn't even make it.
