Wonder if Stan's uptempo vision of basketball calls for Keli at center? I could see that causing major problems for both opponents (how could they guard that?) and us (how would we rebound/protect the paint?), but it'd be entertaining!

Mediocre and poor teams would struggle but good teams could exploit the weaknesses pretty easily. Remember, even Westhead’s extreme go-go teams had strong inside presence. We need to find some balance if we want to move into the upper echelon of teams.

I love Eli Scott, but if he gets a chance to get paid to play basketball somewhere, he should probably take it. But selfishly, I wouldn't be mad if he stayed!

I have no idea what Eli Scott is thinking. He has a possible future in Europe. If others close to him advise him that another year at LMU might improve his “creds” with the better European teams, then he might stay. If those teams have figured that he’s proven everything he can at the collegiate level, then he’ll look for the best contract and situation he can. I’d love to see him stay, but more power to him if he decides it’s time to move on.
I don’t see Markusson staying. He’s 2 years older, probably ready to move on, and I’m sure wants to get closer to home.

Only reason Eli would stay is to improve his outside shooting before going pro. If he can somehow develop into a mid 30% three point shooter with a decent jump shot, while having another all WCC season, he could possibly make a summer league roster and then be eligible for a more elite European league. That being said, if I am him I am 100% moving on to play pro. He has had an amazing career at LMU and is ready for the next chapter.

There is always the chance of injury if he stays, which could hurt his worth in the pros, and specially something like an Achilles break. That being said, Eli has been the iron man avoiding injury so far.

Tough call. He might want to stay to develop his perimeter/face up game and to mature. I know I wasn't ready to live and work overseas when I graduated. Another year of school and personal growth and hoop skill development could be just what the doctor ordered. If it was an easy decision, he would have already made it. I am sure he is bouncing pros and cons off of lots of his friends and mentors.

Also a chance to play in the Big Dance might influence his decision. Perhaps he is waiting to see if Coach Johnson can bring in the "big" that might make it happen?

I really enjoyed watching Eli’s interview. He talks a lot. You can tell he’s a basketball junkie. He’s from Upland so enjoyed hearing about his experience from the 909, (around my hometown of the east SGV.)
Fun story but I remember hearing from my high school students who were bballers about how Lavar used to take his kids to play at a lot of park pick up games to toughen them up. There was so much lore about that whole group in the early-mid 2010s.
I think the Chino Hills story is amazing because so much talent is leaving public schools and heading up private. Now of course CHHS is basically a private school if you look at their facilities, but still what an unlikely occurrence.
As for Eli I wonder what his post playing career is. Is it coaching? Is it broadcasting? I can see both. If he wants to be a broadcaster, this is a good place to be. If he wants to coach, maybe he goes post grad transfer to a well-known coach at a big program.
As for the now, if Eli wants to go to Europe he can go now. If he’s dreaming of the NBA G-League, then he needs to develop a shot. If he wants to enjoy the LA life and get that campus experience with young people his age, then he should stay. I don’t think he’s hurting for money and he has access to 3 NBA players when they roll into town. . Will the NCAA let them capitalize on players’ likeness? A lot of factors.

I'm undecided on what I am hoping for, I can't help but feel like starting his professional career is what would be best for him, but would obviously love to have him back at LMU.
