Agree Iron and Julia Nice to see the Lions scheduling a program that will bolster our RPI or whichever metric is in vogue today. Lots of respect growing for the Lions. Good work Coach Johnson and AD Pinkens!

I’m okay with this. Tulsa bb has some decent history and the team is recognized. They’re also from a different part of the country which will give the Lions some needed recognition. But their NET ranking this last year was only 134, with a 9-12 record. Certainly way better than the bottom half of the Big West (CMD’s scheduling favorite), but well out of the Top 100.
I do have confidence that Pintens and Coach Stan will put together a good schedule. The 2 tournaments that have been tied to LMU’s schedule next season will bring more national exposure and offer at least a couple opportunities for Quadrant I/II games. I expect to see a couple PAC 12 games and likely a MWC game or two. Definitely looking forward to the season!

In the happy hour Zoom, Craig and Stan both alluded to difficulties putting together a schedule due to preexisting commitments; this year's schedule may end up a bit underwhelming, but it won't be from lack of trying on their parts.

I was tuned into that Happy Hour zoom. I found Coach Stan’s comment, “We can’t be playing there” comment was very interesting. He had previously said he sees next season’s team to be tournament worthy, that he wants a strong enough schedule that the team will be a tournament lock before the WCC tournament, and that the WCC tournament will only be an opportunity to improve NCAA tournament seeding.
He didn’t define “there” but he had to be referring to places like UC Davis and SUU. Not sure what’s involved in getting out of already agreed-to home-and-homes (probably some money buyouts), but it tells me that he and the AD are committed to building a solid schedule. I’m sure they’ll have a couple disappointments in their scheduling efforts, but rest assured they’ll be aggressive.

A little bit of down year last year, but Bradley is very solid mid-major program. The mission to play quality opponents continues for us.

I assume the "source" was the email HCSJ sent out to everyone the other day where he literally announced this.

I remember we played Florida State many years back in Gersten…they had huge team… I think they had three 7 footers in the line up. Great to see we are lining up tough opponents.

FSU is going to be tough. Huge turnover from last year’s tournament team but they’re an early season ACC favorite. They have a Top 5 recruiting class and a couple of quality transfers. They will have a significant size advantage over the Lions.

Exactly the win this team needs. Would immediately put us on the map and it is the kind of win that would improve our chances at an at large birth.

One advantage we’ll have — experienced players and a team with players used to playing with each other. FSU will be very good but could struggle early as they are figuring out roles.
I’m very happy seeing them on the schedule. Coach said he wants a spot in the field of 64 secured before the WCC tournament Then use that tournament to improve seeding. Besting FSU will put the Lions on the map. But it’s going to be a tough game.
