Anyone have any idea what happened? I loved many of the insights and articles they had. Especially on alumni players and where they ended up.

I started LMU LIONS ROAR as a blog way back around 2005- mostly as a place for fans to follow Lion’s basketball recruiting. I also wanted LMU basketball to have an online presence for recruits, especially when social media was taking off. Most major programs have some sort of fan site, and I felt it was important for LMU to have one as well. LMU LIONS ROAR transitioned from a blog to an actual website within a few years when two friends joined me. Our goal then was to cover not only LMU, but the WCC as well. The bigger team allowed us to publish at least one new story very week. Andy Hui's "CATCHING UP WITH" series, was always the one of the most read features on the site. Over the years Andy got some truly amazing interviews with former players, coaches, alumni and other member of the LMU community. Our analytics would always skyrocket when we posted a new Andy interview. We also had Turk’s Take, another popular column, that followed the WCC and was published several times a season. There were some great LMU recruiting articles and features on the WCC by Johnny Dimes. Over the years we had several guests write stories on the site as well. There were a few reasons we decided to shut down the site, but the main one was LIONS ROAR has been become somewhat obsolete. There were some under the hood issue with word press and hosting sites that became frustrating to deal with, but the main reason is that LMU BASKETBALL finally has an excellent presence online. Coach Johnson is extremely savvy on social media and makes sure the athletic department is pumping out excellent digital content every week. Our athletic department finally has a great graphic design team, and the videos that Will Hamner, a sport marketing student, is producing and editing are incredible. Additionally, Verbal Commits does an excellent with recruiting information. By the time I find some news about a LMU recruit or the WCC its usually already posted on Lion’s Den by someone already. Shout out to Julia6. She always beats me to the punch! All in all, it was just time to close up shop. The night we closed down the site we all chatted and decided “we had a good run”. Thank you for all your support over the years! Go Lions! I really enjoy design and will continue to post recruiting graphics on my twitter @lmubasketball

Well, I for one, disagree that your site had become obsolete. Obviously the choice to continue or curtail was yours. And I recognize it was a lot of work to run it. But it will be sorely missed. Thanks for the excellent run. I shall miss it!

The content was great and honestly I disagree that your site is obsolete. Those features on times and players past, plus unbiased predictions etc are things you can’t get from the programs own platform. Bit I get it. The costs, the hosting etc and the ability to maintain it can get taxing. (I know from experience)
Perhaps when our program blows up soon, you’ll get more hands and more financial support to launch a bigger, more real-time version.
Thanks for you hard work Iron and the others. (By the way is Turk the same writer that produces content on another sports site….?)

Thank you for all your tireless work over the years Ironlions and +1 that the site was not obsolete. I loved popping over there and reading in-depth, knowledgable takes about this team we all love.
I'm not much of a twitter use, but will try to follow along there, but as we continue to improve under Stan and more fans come in the fold I hope you consider bringing the site back in some capacity!

What about using a blog hub like SBNation? I know Gonzaga and BYU have their pages there. Not sure if there are downsides to it but just something I thought I might suggest.

Since so nation only uses independent contractors to edit and manage their sites, and the state of ca outlawed the use of independent contractors, sb nation will not allow someone from ca to manage or edit a site. You have to have a person outside ca to run the site on so nation.
