Starting my annual thread for fall sports, but focused on men's soccer this year, as they're off to a great start and deserve their own thread. Currently 11th or 12th in the nation, depending on your preferred poll, 5-0-1 record, and the most dangerous team in the conference. They play on Friday evening at Santa Barbara.

Krumpe has built a phenomenal program at LMU. There was great article about him in the recent Alumni magazine.

Krumpe has built a phenomenal program at LMU. There was great article about him in the recent Alumni magazine. He has. Krumpe has had great, consistent success. I enjoyed that article, although the writer couldn't figure out the positions on the all-time best XI!

Thanks for the posting. I used to enjoy attending the Sunday afternoon games but the night games don't work as well for me. Maybe some more afternoon games this season?

By the way, as we've been discussing the replacement for BYU in other places, I thought it'd be worth keeping an eye on those replacement candidates in men's soccer. In the NCAA Coaches Poll, Grand Canyon ranks 25th. Seattle U received three votes for the top 25, University of Denver received one.

LMU leapt all the way up to #6 (from #12) in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings after beating UCSB (and several teams above them losing). We'll see where the NCAA coaches poll puts us, but I'm guessing 6-10 range.
LMU plays at home tonight at 7 against Cal Poly, game should be streamable online.

After two more wins against bigger California schools, LMU is up to #9 in the NCAA Coaches Poll and #5 in the Top Drawer Poll.
Conference play opens on Saturday at Pacific.

Truly incredible stuff. A Top 5 team in the nation two years in a row! Coach Krumpe is finally building a true powerhouse program up here on the bluff.
Excited to see what this team can do the rest of the season.

Whoops. Took a long vacation and lost track of this. Fwiw, LMU lost a few conference games, and Santa Clara (now #16 in the country) has won the conference title with a week to go. LMU will be at the mercy of the selection committee next Monday, but still has a good chance to make the tournament.

I saw the North Carolina game where the Lions fell behind early and could not catch up. Seems we played a lot of games in a row on the road, which is difficult for any team. I'm hoping for a NCAA bid for this great group of guys.

Lions miss the tournament this year. Santa Clara and Portland will represent the WCC. Portland plays potential returner Seattle U in the first round, and, interestingly, our other potential future members Grand Canyon and Denver play against each other in the first round.
Real shame LMU didn't finish higher in the conference.

From a Top 5 ranking in the country to not even making the tourney.... what a shame.
Still future is bright for this program, but they'll have to replace some talent after this year.
