I watched the game. After the Lions got up 13 with a barrage of 3s by Shelton and Aherns, the tide really shifted. Utah State came at the Lions in waves with quick penetration, crisp passing, and effective 3 point shooting. Their drives and cuts were quick and precise and they got lots of layups/easy looks. Utah State had the Lions on their heels seemingly all night. The Lions were forced to foul a lot to slow the Aggies down. Conversely, when the Lions had the ball, the Aggies made it difficult for the Lions to really get into any sense of flow. Cam had 23 at half and very little after that. They really hounded him and Keli. Jalin occasionally broke them down and scored with his mid-range game. After that, not much. Sniper and Aherns got some looks but they were mostly rushed or off balance. Utah State played really well. The Lions weren't at their best. The lessons from this game and the loss at Colorado State should help us in WCC play. Go Lions!

Sad to say I missed this game - the timing simply didn’t work for me. Seems the Lions had a nice first half but couldn’t keep up in the second half. Clearly our “big” men were stifled by the Aggies size and athleticism’s Credits for a nice effort by the Lions and our coach. Wonder if the team spent the night in Vegas or travelled home after midnight? Any Monday finals might find weary eyes.

The Aggies are about to win the Diamond Head Classic and will be 11-2. They lead 71-51 over Washington State with about 10 minutes left. Aloha!

Unfortunately, that was just the third place game. Still, Utah State is a strong team.
