Mark Madsen has been named Cals coach as well, so looks like CSJ will be around for another year.

Wow, good news comes in pairs, I guess!
Welcome to LMU Mike Meadows, we couldn’t stop him in the game at Portland this past season, so glad he’s now on our side.
And Stan has had two years that blew away expectations, looking forward to another season, and hopefully more.

Yeah, Meadows had a few big games last year, Meadows, Wright, and Taitz would be a solid backcourt for us going into next season. That being said we are now in desperate need of some wings as Lewis is currently the only one on our roster.

Thinking he’ll be a contributor right away.

I agree, but as of now he is not a wing (although can definitely play perimeter on defense), he is a true PF on offense as of now. Between McBride, Leaupepe, Merkviladze, Graham, and Issanza are front court should be great.

First, obviously I meant Lavin, not Harrick (mixing up the hair focused 90s UCLA coaches . But what I meant was Lavin and Sendek are coaches bigger in stature than the WCC, but at the end of their careers. I think they’re comfortable and will stick around even if they’re successful. I thought LMU would be served to get a younger coach who was hungry to build, but unless LMU is coming with big money, they’re going to move up the rank. The WCC is one of the best mid majors but LMU has too much to catch up on in terms of fan engagement and facilities to be a “destination”. How much of the transfers has to do with uncertainty of Stan leaving? Obviously Stan leaving at some point would feel like unfinished business, but look at Eric Reveno who never left Portland and now he’s a middling assistant. In the past I would’ve thought Ben Howland as an idea was silly but now I kind of agree, On the other note, I think Chance leaving is ridiculous if he’s doing it as his own decision. Perhaps Stan told him he wasn’t going to get minutes, but if Chance is just giving up after a year, that just seems very out of touch. He’s a slender-build freshman who needs a couple of years working out to get free and battle. Yes, Stan could’ve run specific plays I suppose but a lot of times Chance was physically overmatched with the ball. He would be a very good player once he can hang on the court. He can shoot. Jay Williams said the other day that something like 20% of players entering the portal go unsigned elsewhere. That’s terrible and just seems counterintuitive to getting these kids degrees. Having to completely rebuild every year with transfers is tough and makes winning in the preseason a challenge as these guys mesh. For a 2-3 bid conference, and two of those going to Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s, that will be a challenge. I would hate to see Stan just coaching year to year… I’ll agree having to rebuild a roster each year is a big challenge, but I see it as the wave of the future (and the future is with us now).

I compare it to the modern NBA. Teams like the Lakers, Rams, always trade away their “draft picks” for already established players. Maybe that’s the idea??

Kwane Marble has found a new home at Niagra. Best wishes to Kwane. He always played hard and represented LMU well.

Chance "Sniper" Stevens has entered the portal. You win some, you lose some. Wishing Chance the best. Interesting to see if he is seeking to get more PT and to develop his broader game or if he wants to be a hired gun for a big time program like ex USD sharpshooter Joey Calcaterra has done. Per Jeff Ermann, Chance is going to Maryland

Guess he thought he was too good for the WCC. Maybe he was right!

Wow, did not expect him to be able to transfer to Maryland, they definitely must have watched the Wake Forest game. Good for him and wish him the best.

The coach he originally committed to out of high school (Cox) at Rhode Island is an assistant at Maryland. He was let go by Rhode Island and Chance de-committed from them and then came to LMU. He probably entered the portal with a pretty clear idea he wanted to reunite with Coach Cox.
