The Miners average 95.6 ppg and are good 3-point shooters (34.8% team wise, Jones 57.1%, Hardy 47.8%). They average 13.6 steals per game but have 13.2 turnovers per game. UTEP has several impressive wins early with their seasoned team and will be another handful in Gersten.
Coach Johnson needs to work on turnovers and defense before our contest with the Miners.

The Miners play Bradley Wednesday, Nov 22 before meeting the Lions this weekend.

47 points allowed is the fewest since Stan became the head coach, previously 48 against UC Irvine in his first season. Very nice to see.

Also, Wright scored 20 so that it marks four different players so far this season (in 7 games) that have scored at least 20 points.

Justin Wright is a bucket. He's been our most dependable scorer so far this year. He's got a great stroke and he's tough. Nice to Lars have a decent game.

Much better defensive effort. Our aggressive man-to-man frustrated the Miners offense and we crashed the boards better.
With Keli back to his old self, this is a much better team than we started with.
Great to get a blowout win!

Makes Lions’ improved defense look pretty good upon reflection - versus a team that averages 95 ppg we hold them to 47!

Lions are going to be tough come conference play - in what I think will hopefully be a 4 way fight for second place with Saint Marys, USF, and Santa Clara, no reason to think we can't beat out those teams. And as pointed out above, we have at least 4 guys now we know can get 20 points, and I have a feeling Keli will be the 5th shortly. I also like that McBride is getting more time too, hopefully he can stay on the court once Issanza comes back. I still think Hill will be our best player when all said and done, but loving the size and guard depth we have.

My thoughts:

We are immensely talented individually , but still really aren’t playing well together. Offense tends to stagnate and there are
Really no set plays to get our bigs any looks. Defensively we are still slow to rotate and help. Numbers looked good becuase utep couldn’t hit an open jump shot to save their lives.
