The cream rises to the top. Zags favored by 3.5 over Gaels tonite. And Zags climbed over #21 Gaels to occupy #17 in national polls. Big result for the Gaels last night. Both schools project as 7-seeds for the tourney.

Zags face McNeese (who?) a 30-game winner so not to be taken lightly. Gaels draw Grand Canyon - another good match.

McNeese shoots very well from outside and I understand they have one pro-prospect type player. 5 and 6 seeds have a history of losing. It’s not really their fault. The problem usually lies with the selection committee that doesn’t give much credit to a low or mid major program having a strong year. Those teams often get an 11 or 12 seed and then go up against a 5 or 6 seed, and are capable of putting up a tough fight. Neither the Zags, Gaels nor even Cougars should go into their opening round game lightly.
