I will be there too. Talked to the AD. Every coach in the running including Monty, and Bayno, said that we do not have a single Div I player on our roster. A few "might" be able to come off the bench on other teams. Since we have no scholarships I don't know what Bayno will be able to do, but he'll have to coach these kids. If he can coach these kids to a winning way, then he's a good coach. In any event, I'm Stoked! ALL I have to do now is start the chant.... "NO MORE TENTION" (clap, clap, clap, clap)...."NO MORE TENTION" (clap, clap, clap, clap) "Just say BAYNO"

What question to ask?
Simple:
Coach Bayno, What can I do to help you be successful at LMU?

What questions do we ask? When will you be ditching those awful uniforms? With that thought, I will be sure to email my creations to Karina as soon as I get off work.

What questions do we ask? Got any bigs? Did we blow our budget on your salary? When are we going to dance? Got any bigs? When's the beach bbq at your Venice beach house? Just a few off the top of my head.

I can't read behind the lines AA. Are you implying someone ain't qualifying? I would guess Bayno will try to be honest and let these young men know where they stand and the current players will make a decision. I'm actually glad to hear that it sounds like Kwame is still coming. My friend is a journalist up in the bay and raves about this kid. When Shamsud left and we got him, he told me that the kid is a diamond in the rough. Not long ago, he said he's gonna show up some high major recruits. Sounds good. After talkin to Bayno, he is excited to get his college career started. He will be there for summer school. Bayno hasn't seen him play, but heard through other coaches that he is the real deal. Bayno asked him for tapes, but also said from what he is hearing he has a chance to come in and get miuntes right away. With regards to what waterboy said, I believe it's more about having players who have the drive to get to the next level.

I just got back from the press conference. I thought Bayno did a great job fielding all the questions asked by the media and the students who talked to him afterwards. I was very impressed with what he had to say, and I think he has a great ability to get people to buy-in to him and his system. He talked a lot about player development and working these guys harder than they have ever worked, which is definitely needed. He will create a lot of excitement for LMU Basketball both inside Gersten and beyond the bluff.

One thing is for sure, Bayno is extremely charismatic. I understand why he is a great recruiter. I was ready to suit up and join the team after he started laying out his "stump speech." I think the biggest takeaways - He confirmed that the administration was firmly committed to the program (meaning a boost to resources all around).
- Was very willing and able to use his NBA connections. He talked about how he is bringing his family (his NBA network) to LMU and they are our new biggest fans
- Is already conditioning the guys hard and is tireless
- Loves LMU, loves what he is able to sell here
- Ready to win and make noise in the NCAA. Said he has unfinished business. Realizes that we have to start small though and just play hard and not quit (an improvement over this past season by a long shot!)
- Admires Mark Few, wants to model program after Gonzaga like he and Calipari modeled UMass out of Temple. Mentioned Keating and Grier as rising coaches. Said the WCC should have 5 20+win teams.
- Wants a national schedule, will use his personal coaching connections to get big names
- Wants to bring future NBA players in. Said he has never been somewhere he didn't have NBA players.
- Women's coach Julie Wilhoit made an impression on him
- Is much more experienced and qualified than when he was at UNLV (and he didn't do such a bad job at UNLV ;D)
- Really liked working with the Blazers (took a pay cut to come here and was offered a raise when he expressed interest to come) but knew this was the place for him and that he could succeed.
- Wants to run, has talked to Westhead, asked "Did you guys fill up the house when you won?" the answer was "Yes" *applause*
I was extremely impressed by him and his vision. He really seems to work players hard, wants to win, and has a great story. The crowd was about 200 I think. Not a full house but a nice group. Lawton and players were in the crowd, no Bove. Very sad the streaming video didn't work. He was very candid answering the questions (even got a Hardball question about his "I don't want to coach" quote). I think we've got a great coach.

I got there a little late but i'd say 200+ in attendance. After, he spoke to students and he liked how we had more student fans for our final regular season game at USD than USD did. He really impressed me when he said he'd rather have a bunch of crazy college kids (ROAR) than a bunch of 50 million dollar boosters..." He also mentioned after the speech that he "wants to let the kids play and have more fun." Someone asked about our "bigs" situation and said he'd "fix it to compete for a conference title in two years."
Softspoken guy, but we hung on to every word he said. Seems like a good hire so far.
GO LIONS!
