Frank Ben-eze, 6-10 230 (Three stars) A once commit of Harvard who reopened his recruitment. A extremely strong banger inside. Not to mention Harvard academic potential. I heard he is getting recruited by UCLA too. Either of these two guys would be awesome. Go Lions Committed to Harvard and is now being chased by UCLA. #23 Center in class according to Scout. There looks like a lot of quality players still out there. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/13/AR2008041302370.htmlAccording to link Ben-eze visited Davidson and Georgia Tech too.

Another local big man Edgar Garibay, 6-10, 215lbs
Rivals A very intriguing post player, Garibay has a great frame, with good feet and hands. He needs to play with a more consistent focus and effort, but the tools are there for an outstanding player.
Sounds like a player Coach Bayno could really develop!

Another solid recruit that would be nice to see on our radar. He's getting looks from good programs including UNLV, UCLA, UConn, Georgetown, and Marquette.

I did some research on Scout and Rivals for available players. Below are a list players that are still out there. I know these some really high level players, but with Bayno anything is possiable. Drew Viney All the guys below could come in and play for us right away. Darrius Morrow 6-8 just got his release from South Caroline after coaching change. ( Three star rivals & scout) Also recruited by Cincinnati, UAB, Fordham Varez Ward 6-3 that decommitted from Cincinnati ( Three star rivals & scout) Also recruited by Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee Devin Ebanks 6-8 the got his release from Indiana ( FIVE start recruit on rivals & scout) He is from New York so Bayno and Levy connections could defiantly be play. Sean Kilpatrick 6-5 unsigned ( Three start on rivals, four star on scout) Also from New York. Hearing from Big East and ACC schools. Bud Mackey 6-4 decommitted from Indiana. Great player that is available, but probably not some one we want at LMU. He has some legal troubles stemming from a arrest for cocaine possession Edgar Garibay 6-10 available local kid that has gotten a late flurry of interest from Indiana, Georgetown, UNLV, and a bit from UCLA. Go Lions

There are still some under-the-radar types, including some regionally. Another source of info to check is the McDonald's All American Nominee List. There are also kids that are academic qualifiers and may have some offers, but are playing the spring AAU tournaments to see if they can improve their choices or because they only have offers back east but want to remain in the west.
Some other thoughts:
A number of local guards are still out there that have high level experience: Dallas Rutherford, Justin Cook, Justin Thomas, Chris O'Brien, Eric Strangis and Aaron Hawk-Harris. All have offers to go elsewhere but may want to remain on the west coast like recently happened with Lorne Jackson and Keion Bell at Pepperdine.
Gariby is still a work in progress, but a good one. Drew interest from Louisville as a frosh/soph. Needs to work on defensive footwork, but can bang. Needs some weight and upper body strength to deal with the Zags and USD. Would be a very nice "get" for the coaches.
Viney's rap was his mother went everywhere, including sitting on the bench we he played AAU ball. What does this spell if he comes to LMU? Also, he's always played with a back court buddy who gets him the ball. What happens if he has to create his own shot.
Has another assistant coach been named yet?
I'm out --

We need to replace 5 or 6 guys??? In this short amount of time?? We may be looking at a long 2008-2009 season for LMU. Especially since OJ might be heading out the door (if the rumors are true). It is very late in the recruiting game, so it is to the point where he will have to nab four or five of the players stated above, bring in a group of international players, or have a team full of walkons for next year. It seems to me right now that Bayno is setting up for a successful 2009-2010 year rather than a good year next year. And it also seems to me like the available players you are mentioning above all would come in as transfers, therefore have to sit out a year. They would not be eligibile next year. So while we keep thinking who is out the door, we also have to take into consideration who Bayno is getting to replace these guys next year. We need to be able to field a team.

5 star recruits ironlions? Love that spirit. ;D!
I agree with your sentiments, nothing to worry about at this time. Bayno's got a full field of prospects and I'm not going to worry about OJ until I see some ink that makes me worry.

As I have said before... I really like OJ and hope he stays. We are going to be getting so really great players and by his Jr./Sr. we can really make noise. If he leaves, I wish him the best...but will not be upset a bit. It gives us one more scholarship to work with.

Orlando Johnson was a top-3 freshman in the WCC last year, all while being the focus of the opponent's defense night-in, night-out (compare that w/ Daye, who came off the bench). The flippancy in which we're treating this is surprising.
We need OJ at LMU. IMHO, he cannot be replaced.

Its not suprising that he was the focus of the opponent's defense as we didn't have much offense.
Newlionfan....where are you getting your info?
