He is not hard to find and he is still on campus. Just ask him and the truth will set LMU free to find the next best thing. I am not trying to make the guy look bad by keep bringing up his name but if he is 1 of the few bright spots on the team then why not ask him. Me: Hey OJ what is up with you being released from the team? OJ: Please call me Orlando or O for short. OJ played for USC. Me: You got it Orlando it is O from now on. O: As for the release, it was going to happen sooner than it did. I just wanted to see who the new Coach was going to be before I decided. Me: So you are not impressed with what he has to offer as a coach, being that he has NBA credentials and has won at the D1 level before. O: I am really impressed. Coach knows a lot about the game at both levels and it, being making the decision to leave, came about through how I worked out with him and his asst. They both know I can play along with a few other guys. I actually enjoyed the workouts, which made the decision hard for me to ask to be released, but by no means did it have to do with the new Coaching Staff. Me: Are you still going to play college basketball? O: No Comment Me: Since you have been released has any schools shown any interest in you? O: A few schools Me: Any WCC schools? O: ;D Me: Okay, How about the PAC 10, Big 10 or 12 O: All I will say is a few colleges have interest in me for the 2009- 2010 season. Are they Major Programs? We will see, won't we. Me: Is it possible for you to show me the release papers. O: No Problem. Bam Me: I guess it is official with AD's Sig and all. Well it was a joy watching you even though it was a tough season to watch. Part 2 of Interview will be tomorrow.

OJ had potetial. Sometimes could shoot the ball well, but was absolutely missing on defense. He is truly a work in progress with a lot of up side. However, he did not want to do the drty work of defense and that is why he didn't even make the WCC all freshman Team.
I'd like to see him back for his sake, not ours, as Bayno is a power Coach that could reallly develop O.
I really wish him well.

don't know why he'd leave unless he is worried about PT or something. Good luck O. Just don't go to Pepperdine we're cool.

I'm sad to hear that OJ is leaving. I wish him the best on the road ahead. I would have liked him to stay, but I believe his PT would have dwindled his upper class man years. ( Due to the players we are going to get with Coach Bayno) I still think he should have stayed but I'm sure he will be just fine where ever he ends up. Go Lions

This is hot right from vegas. A lot of talk and reliable.
Thank the LMU Admin for all players that will be asked to leave from which they were invited. The admins plan is to honor their scholarship with a Presidential. Meaning they can go to school at LMU but will not be playing basketball.
Who's in:
Sutton - (Potential) Marco (Senior and big that can streatch the defense with his 3 point shot, minutes will be low) Tim - (Potential) Davis (commit) Viney (visits tomorrow with Banyo at LMU will probably commit)
Who's on the bubble:
Jenkins (Westchester project--good thing, upside--good thing and Possible Academic issue--bad thing)
Deadwiler (Potential--His youth and growth potential is huge upside but will have to prove he's worthy of any minutes in Banyo system interesting is that he's still a subject of discussions)
Who's Out all have a chance to stay or come on a Presidential Scholarship.
QT Wright Vaughn Walker Craig Sweezy Orlando
Who do they still want:
Teel or Teal not sure of the spelling.
Banyo is only interested in playing a 7 or 8 man rotation.
So thats 7 scholarship for sure for Banyo. You guys got a gem in the rough, he's a recruiting machine.

I would have thought that Craig would have been the one to best benefit under Bayno. I saw many similarities to Ayer in his first few years, and if he managed to find some aggression and improve ball control, he could have at least helped the cause when matched up against Lowhorn, etc.
No idea where the info on Kwame came from. Would hate to see him not at least have a chance.
The one name not mentioned here is Maynard. I remember the big issue of him being used on the outside too often his freshman year, then requesting to be used inside this past season, but didn't really have an opportunity with a decrease in minutes. Any word on that front?

Wow where do you guys get this stuff from, not saying its wrong just where does it come from? Is it the Coach or the AD. Thats the word I have to go on.
I do know everyone will meet one on one with the Coach next week, early next week and then I guess we'll all know who's moving on or not. Whats a presidential scholarship?
Good luck to all the players that was invited to play at LMU.

Your info is exactly what I've heard so far. Meeting with coach next week and see what's what.
If the presidential scholarship rumor is true, that will cost LMU tons of of money to accommodate these players.

A very reliable source (from the mouth of Bill Bayno) inferred that the incoming recruits may not be fit his style and arrangements by the university will be made. I made this inference in my initial post after the press conference but did not elaborate on it in order not to jeopordize recruiting strategy. Now that another source (HOT FROM VEGAS) is confirming, I will add credibility to the "Vaughn/Wright" status. I know someone else on this board that was present at that time when Bayno stated those comments as well that could confirm. Regarding anything (other player's status), I cannot confirm but "HOT FROM VEGAS" seems rather credible at this stage. Those "other arrangements" now becomes clear with the "HOT FROM VEGAS" post. We now know what those other arrangements are -- "Presidential Scholarship. Who's In - AGREED. Bubble - You have to keep Jenkins...4 years of eligibilty. But I assume he may walk anyway. From what I heard, he was TERRIBLE UPSET during the RT reign. No room for Deadwiler if Viney commits. Deadwiler has had two years to play. Not sure if he can get over the bubble. Who's Out - best of luck to you and your families. It may be best to take the LMU education instead of trying your luck at other universities. Exception is O.J. and Walker. I respect both of their games.

Good luck to all the players that was invited to play at LMU. A Presidential Scholarship is a "tuition free" education. There are very few given out. This move by the university is WITHOUT QUESTION, the most honorable thing to do and states to the LMU Athletics Family that LMU is finally serious about putting a WINNING basketball team on the floor of Gersten. I am very very please with the university to accomodate these students to pursue their degrees. I am PROUD to be associate with such a honorable university. Four statements by LMU that a COMMITMENT has been made to LMU Men's Baskebtall and putting a winner on floor: 1) Eating the remaining two years of Rodney Tention's contract; 2) Hiring Bayno (not the most conserative pick) and hiring him at a salary that is equal or above Mark Few's base. 3) Having Teel state that LMU will have a great team on the court as other players are coming besides himself (if he commits) and Larry Davis. 4) LMU ponying up PRESIDENTIAL scholarships to all those that did not make the Bayno cut. PRESIDENT LAWTON, LANE BOVE, BILL HUSAK.....I bow down to you today. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I know it is early to bow down, but I BELIEVE in Bayno. I believe you did the best thing you could do given the situation. I cannot ask for much more.

this is looking dumb and unreliable though unless Bayno has other recruits he is bringin in. Even with Teel, if your information is correct we have about 6 players eligible on the team next year. Tim, Sutton, Deadweiler, Jenkins, Marko, and Teel. No d1 team will have 6 players on their team playing. Some of your information has got to give.
