Welcome Laron! Glad you are now a Lion.
I am suprised that he is not listed on rivals or scout, but hopefully Bayno has a good eye for talent and found a quality player.

Talk about off the radar. Very odd but Laron could be a very capable addition. His size and HS stats are good. ESPN didn't really evaluate him but they do give this ... sentence for us to chew on. Laron Armstead, a 6-5 senior out of Los Angeles/Fremont, needs to add some bulk to his wiry frame, but his jump shot and overall offensive game is relatively smooth. Welcome to LMU. Thanks lbwave for the scoop.

Give the guys a chance, folks. Both Bayno and the recruit. Just cause he's not written up on ESPN doesn't mean anything. And many players excel in AAU or when the quality of comp is better than when they get buried in an archaic system that some old school HS coach may run.
Sometimes players also perform since they have a chip on their shoulders. Maybe they were overlooked or were late bloomers. Maybe they got hurt in their senior year -- I know two mid-to-high D1 recruits that both disappeared off the radar once they had to have surgery on their knee and shoulders respectively. Now they have something to prove.
Conversely, somebody like Lil Romeo gets a scholie at USC. His hype gets him write ups on max Preps, Scout and ESPN. Truth be told, the kid was getting KILLED in the AAU circuit. He was a joke. But, cause his Daddy got him linked at the kip to Demar Derozan, they rode to USC together. Sad fact.
Although we don't know it let's assume that Bayno has a plan in place. This is just one of the moves on the board. Be patient. Be supportive. And stop dissing the outgoing players, too.
Okay. I'm now off my soapbox.

Well said!!!!
Welcome new players!!! But lets not forget the old players are just kids, learning life lessons......they were all stars in their own right. Just weren't developed properly at LMU. You can't tell me that with the right training any of the outgoing players could not have shined. On any given game they all had their moments. Just weren't given the chance. We aren't in their shoes with their futures uncertain. They don't even know where they'll be next year. They are just kids..........

The first-team All-City selections: Renardo Sidney, Fairfax, Jr.; Justin Hawkins, Taft, Jr.; Eugene Phelps, Taft, Sr.; Tony Freeland, Fremont, Jr.; Laron Armstead, Fremont, Sr.; Dominique O'Connor, Westchester, Jr.; Oscar Bellfield, Westchester, Sr.; Chris Solomon, Fairfax, Sr.; Nigel Carter, Dorsey, Sr.; Jarred Dubois, Westchester, Sr.
Since Rivals and scout do not have Laron's profile. I have given him the IronLions ranking of two and half stars. This was done by average the stars of the others listed on the all-city first team. ;D

Fremont ban on post season play ran interference on this kid. LA City is a monster conference for Basketball players. Great catch for LMU. Heard that Davidson (final 8 participant) and several major programs were after him. Solid defender and scorer.
Way to GO, BayNO!

alert2 --
No offense, but it does appear there are some posters that are either hating on this kid since he doesn't have the props that some of his peers have, or hatin' on Tention's players who may (or may not) have been caught in the shuffle. I'm just trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
