Maybe it is early, thats why not so many people have responded yet, but geesh do you guys not realize how big of a get this is??? VIney is better than Larry Davis people. Viney could be a future pro. And if we get Teel like everyone is speculating, in two years we would have
PG: Teel SG: Davis SF: VIney
thats a great 1,2,3 combo. Now the focus needs to be on adding some big men. I believe Timmy can be a solid post player for us the next three years averaging around 10 a game. I would like to see us get a bigger, more athletic big who can bang with the big boys a little better than timmy. Than you put timmy at the 4 and the athletic big man at the 5 and we got ourselves a very nice team. VIney, Teel, and Davis is a great start though. Man im excited!

This is absolutely great news. Bayno will be a great recruiter at the college level if he is given the resources, which it looks like he is. The way he talks about work ethic and life will be very tempting for any 17 year old bball player. He also really loves SoCal and knows how to sell everything the bluff has to offer. Can't wait for more great things to come.

Wow, wow wow! I want to wait for a official word but this is truly amazing. With Davis and Viney we have just landed two of the most talented players in since Hank and Bo. If Teel also commits as suspected we will have the core of an amazing team. I feel like dancing and crying with joy.
Go Lions!!!

It seems that Larry Davis and Drew Viney are friends on facebook now too. Awesome sign. I was actually with Gathers44 at the party last night when Viney's friend told us he was going to come here. He though my friend was on the basketball team because he was really tall, but we told him we were big lion fans. He said the reason he wants to come here is because he thinks he can one of the main guys for our team and stop us from loosing, where in Oregon he was a role player until the guys above him graduated.
Hopefully we hear something definite soon, but I am so excited for the future of Lions Basketball.

I do not like the way the WCC is currently recruiting. In the not so distant past, the WCC recruited good students who were also solid, but not spectacular players. Now the coaches know that they will be canned in 3 years unless they readh the top 3 in the league, i.e. Rodney Tention.
Therefore, coaches are going after any good player regardless of character. USF is doing it right now with Eli Holman, a kid who was suspended for pushing a ref and just got into a confrontation with Coach Crean at Indiana when he asked for his release. You are now doing it with Drew Viney, a kid who was kicked off of his HS team even though he averaged 27 ppg. Is it a suprise that he transferred out of Oregon after one year of barely getting on the court?
These kids all think they are superstars and the minute they think they are slighted by their first college coach, they bail.
Not only that, but many kids in the WCC have been "run off" by new coaches. It happened at Pepperdine, SCU and now LMU. I'm sure USF would have done it too if we had a full roster.
I personally think the WCC should be an academics-first conference like the Patriot League, and not a Pac 10 wannabe.

Patriot League: Army, Navy, Lehigh, Lafayette, Colgate, Bucknell, American, Holy Cross All great academic institutions. Read the book the Last Amateurs.
The WCC is becoming a poor man's mountain west.

First things first. WOOHOO! Davis, Viney, and Teel closer to suiting up for the lions. We are definintely not the same type of team we have been these past years, decades... So far Bayno has lived up to his challenge. USF, I like what you are saying. I do not agree, but it makes sense, I think a lot feel that way (especially in our administration!). I was there when our president mentioned that he wanted LMU to compete for the #1 and #2 spots in all WCC sports and a few other administrators in the audience audibly sneered . I think the WCC really did want to be like the Patriot League at one time but Gonzaga and cable sports changed that. Times are changing and LMU and the WCC are doing the best they can to keep up, while the Patriot League will be left in total obscurity. I used to live on the east coast so I am familiar with several of the schools. It isn't a reach to say when you mention American on the street your response is and mention George Mason and get . Even though American in reality is superior in probably every way but athletics... for now.
