It looks like we are now recruiting Edgar Garibay from Compton High School. Scout ucla.scout.com/a.z?s=12&p=8&c=1&nid=2012768Rivals rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=42659&sport=2From Hoyatalk "Although he is planning to sign this spring as a 2008 prospect, Edgar Garibay is here with the LA Stars and was instrumental in his team's comeback from 17 points to beat I-5 Elite. Garibay is receiving some heavy recruiting interest. He said new Indiana coach Tom Crean has called and offered. USC, New Mexico State and Loyola Marymount have offered as well. " From fullctpress.net "Edgar Garibay is also a top-notch prospect in his own right. Long, agile and armed with an accurate perimeter shot that extends out to the 3-point line, Garibay is rapidly becoming the object of high-major attention. Schools that have ventured out onto Compton’s Alondra Blvd. to peek at Edgar (a good student – 3.2 GPA) include Cal, LSU, Stanford, Washington, Florida State, Oregon, Arizona, USC, Marquette, Kansas, Iowa, New Mexico State, Colorado State and Loyola Marymount" I hope we can get him cause we need some height.

ironlions reported this a few days ago. Would be great to hear if he takes a visit to LMU. We've already got Laron in, and with our other good recruits that should help lure him. He would be another huge get.

Glad to see more people getting becoming more involved in recruiting. I reported about Garibay last month, but glad to hear we are in the mix for him. Also glad that he is a good student...something must have changed because there were some questions about his academics before. We need a big man for sure.

God it is really good to see Bayno is active, especially that the media is active. I have never seen so much media for us, and now that Bayno is here, who can deny!!

ESPN's take:
Garibay has loads of potential for the next level. He possesses good athleticism and also has a great frame. However, he sometimes does not display his vast array skills on the court. In some instances, he shows glimpses of remarkable skill, including a deft touch from long range for a big man. Conversely, he can completely disappear in games for long stretches of time. He has a soft shooting touch out to 20 feet as well as a slowly progressing post game. He continues to make strides in the post with his footwork. In addition, he can handle the ball fairly well for a big man while on the break. However, his general feel for the game is rather weak as he tends to take bad shots and he displays poor fundamentals in the post. In addition, his mental focus needs to improve greatly if he is to garner any looks from high major Division 1 schools.
Sounds like a guy Bayno could develop very well. I think his family and friends being able to see him play would make LMU a nice choice from him.
