Kwame Vaughn has signed with USF per the Dons board. I'm glad Kwame has found a scholarship...a great get for USF in my opinion. Congrats OldLionFan soon to be NewDonsFan ;D

If "newlionfan" wants he can change his visible screen name by editing his profile at anytime. Good news for USF.

I guess everything works out in the end for both parties. Kwame gets to stay local, still play in the WCC, and have an opportunity to get back at Bayno (although Kwame should only be upset at Rodney for not lasting through his contract. Bayno had no ties or promises made to Kwame). Bayno gets to use his scholarship in other ways on a person he wants to recruit. Seems like a win-win situation to me. Glad to see Calvin Bryd honor Tention's promises to Kwame. Congrats newoldlions fan!

How's everyone doing? Yes, this is a win-win situation for both parties. He was Rodney's recruit and was looking forward to playing at LMU with Bayno as coach. There's no hard feelings there, but wouldn't everyone want to prove himself in competition against a team he has some small tie too.

NewLionFan/NewDonFan:
I saw your son play in high school and I was looking forward to seeing him in a Lions' uniform. I think he's a very good player with a lot of upside and I am glad he found a home you and he are happy with. I look forward to getting to see him play in person and on TV in the coming years.
I think he was one of Coach Tention's best recruits and I understand that - due to the circumstances of the coaching change - he isn't what Coach Bayno was looking for at this time. Not that he isn't a good player, but just not what is needed right now.
I hope he has a nice career and plays well against LMU, but I hope LMU wins!

I'm actually not Kwame's dad. I too was looking forward to him playing at LMU, but the important thing is that he still had the opportunity to get an education. Timmeaboy, I will definately be at the game when they play on the Lions home court. This has to be a game I'm looking forward to. I've gained interest in the Lions and will still root for them, but when playing the Dons, I will hope for a huge Vaughn night and a win.

I'm sure Kwame will have an extra motivation when LMU and USF face each other. I will root for him and wish him the best.

I don't mean to flame, but aren't you guys being a little hypocritical? You jumped all over Shamsud for reneging on his verbal (verbal not LOI) and yet you have no problem with your new coach yanking a ride from a kid who actually did sign an LOI. I know you guys have been in the desert a long time, but try not to binge too heavily on the Bayno kool-aid.

The circumstances are a bit different for each case. I think people are on this board were angered by Ameer's switch which happened within a week. He all of a sudden changed his mind and went to a coach who ultimately led your school to NCAA sanctions and quit mid season.
Coaching changes means roster turn over. IE look at all the players that left when Vance was hired, look at Shelley and Thomas leaving now. This is the case for Kwame. Bayno did not recruit him and had no obligation to keep him...even though we was given a fair chance.
Go Lions

I guess I'm wrong, I assumed Kwame signed an LOI and thus the school had made a committment, but if it was just a verbal, then yeah, you're right, it's up to Bayno.
I'm not trying to defend what Walberg did or didn't do, but I think it's a shame that these kids get caught in the middle during these coaching changes. I guess that's the WCC world we now live in.
BTW, if you believe posters on our board, Shelley & Thomas both asked to come back after receiving their releases, but were either turned down by Asbury or were academically ineligible, depending on who you believe. Time to close the Walberg chapter.

WCC is becoming a very competitive conference for sure.
I do check out the Pepperdine board. Its too bad to lose players of Shelley and Thomas of talent level. However, it is in fact to do with academic troubles I think its better if they move on. Asbury seems to focusing on academics, which can't be said for VBK and Wahlberg (not sure about Westphal) he should be applauded. He seems to bringing great talent with strong acadmeics...Waves fans should be very happy.
