Well to branch off from the oversized "Attendance" thread I just wanted to talk about some of the new Gersten Improvements. Unfortunately funding is still not at the necessary level to build the offices/lockerroom facility that we really need. Even though the funding is part of LMU's $300 million funding campaign, which has raised over $200mil, the AD faciity hasn't had much earmarked for it yet. I guess it could be 3-4 years before ground is broken. Hopefully with the library soon to be out of the way some major donors will step up to the plate. Would also help if we make a miracle run at the NCAAs There are some cool new imporvements being made inside the Pavillion and more planned on the way like new interior painting and bathroom improvements. The seating will also look much better. I hear that the bottom portion of the student section has been given crimson plastic benches that are very durable. The opposite bottom side will also be completely filled with crimson chairbacks. I was standing around Gersten the other day while some people were exploring the new seats but did not go inside to check it out myself (doh)! Hopefully I'll be able to post some picks asap. Here are some mocks of the Gersten AD addition. I really hope it will be up by 2010. It will go a long way to improving athletics at LMU.

Thanks Fanblade...i'm glad some improvements are in the works. The new athletic building would be an awesome addtion, and would be very impressive to recruits. If you build it they will come!
Go Lions.

They need to replace the scoreboard with something hung in the air in the middle of the court. Sometimes I can't see the stats on the scoreboard because the speakers block the view.

The gym is way too small to have a hanging scoreboard as far as I know. I wish they would move the student seats to the other side and bring them right next to the floor. There is so much more potential for the place if they just changed the insides a bit. The students are so far from the floor, it is insane. Anyone who has been to Spokane to the old or new kennel knows how crazy it can get if students are literally right on the floor.

Why would gersten be too small? I think the dimension is fine. Now if you tell me the roof would collapse then that's another story.

Btw, they've been thinking about extending the campaign to 2011 for the centennial (sp?) celebration.

Cool that the pav is getting a makeover. The more sprucing the merrier.

I wish they would move the student seats to the other side and bring them right next to the floor. I think you'd like a setup like this @ UCD. But then again our student section is much better than some places like USF's little alcove.

Is ticket prices going to adjusted this year? Anybody know? We have one of the lowest season ticket prices in the WCC. However, if they raise prices they may just lose some cheap seaons ticket holders.
I love the new look. Anybody know why they did not re-do the upper sections? Don't tell me because they don't expect people to seat in those sections. If that is the case, then the program may not be that serious about re-building the program.
I am a big hitter on attendance. I know we have talked and talked about attendance, but the campus needs to support the team. President Lawton is never going to make LMU a "Georgetown of the West Coast" unless the school re-establishes the program to respectability. There is no execuse not to average 3,000 a night (even with a young team).

I guess they have to do the renovation in phases. Last year they upgraded the sound and the floor, this year the seats. Next year the scoreboard and the upper seat sections?? Who knows, we can only hope.

I love the new look. Anybody know why they did not re-do the upper sections? I was told it was due to financial issues. We only had the money to do the bottom sections (which I guess are priority #1). I am glad that at least some progress was made in sprucing up Gersten. Looks real good in person now. Hopefully the upper sections will come along next season like LMU suggests.
