Per Fox sports, 6-3 guard Given Kalipinde has committed to LMU. He is originally from Zambia and played his HS ball at Episcopal High School in Virgina. community.foxsports.com/blogs/goodmanonfox(in the random notes section) www.dcsportsfan.com/article.aspx?aid=1738He sounds like a good player but under the radar as he has not played the AAU circuit before. He is playing for the DC Blue Devils this summer. He average 23 ppg in HS. Also a good soccer player. Form Hoops blog: Given Kalipinde: Loyola Marymount, Boston University, George Mason, Richmond, and American Favorites: Loyola Marymount, Boston University, and George Mason are his top three Notes- as for other schools recruiting Kalipiinde, he said that “the rest of them are [for] soccer,” and added that “Loyola [Marymount] might consider . . . making me play soccer too.” Kalipinde said he is “going to visit [Loyola Marymount] . . . in a couple weeks.” Welcome Given! I'd guess Coach Scholl identified this kid, as he started the basketball program in Zambia. I'd hope he eschews playing collegiate soccer, but the good news is the last international soccer player to play guard in the WCC turned out to be pretty good - Mr. Stevie Nash

Who knows... if Garibay goes the prep school route, he could also be on the 09 list.

Pepbander,
You could be corret about Garibay. I did see him in Gersten coming out of some pick up. If I see him again I'm going to talk to him and ask about where he wants to go.

malibu campus... psh
but he sounds like a great get and it seems like alot of credit should go to Coach Scholl.
If Bayno believes he can be All WCC and a future pro then it sounds like one outstanding get.

Article by Josh Barr Washington Post
Episcopal's Kalipinde Chooses Loyola Marymount Big Boss Man Dan Uthman, fresh off his month-long sojourn (ok, maybe it only felt that long) to Hawaii, has this contribution:
Given Kalipinde, a rising senior guard at Episcopal in Alexandria, has committed to play men's basketball at Loyola Marymount.
Kalipinde, whose mother and five siblings live in his native Zambia, arrived at Episcopal last season after being discovered in the Basketball Without Borders program and went on to lead the Maroon in every major statistical category: 19 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, 3.5 steals and two blocks per game. One of his most impressive outings came against No. 2 Montrose Christian in the Sleepy Thompson tournament final.
Prior to that, he put together a soccer season that earned him an All-Met honorable mention selection and caught the attention of college coaches.
But he was most interested in basketball, and by this summer he had as many as 50 schools pursuing him, led by George Mason, Wake Forest, Richmond, UNLV and Boston University in addition to Loyola Marymount. Loyola Marymount began recruiting Kalipinde this past spring after it hired Coach Bill Bayno, who requested tape of Kalipinde shortly after his hiring. Bayno's lead recruiter, Myke Scholl, previously worked with Basketball Without Borders in Africa and was a scout for the Detroit Pistons.
Episcopal Coach Jim Fitzpatrick said Bayno feels that Kalipinde can be an all-West Coast Conference player and potential pro. Kalipinde plans to take an official visit to Loyola Marymount's Malibu, Calif., campus in September.
Fitzpatrick said he expects another rising senior, 6-5 Yao Sithole, could garner some Division I offers this fall. Sithole, a physical player, can play small forward and power forward.
