From ESPN Insider:
The younger brother of former UMass star Stephane Lasme, Romeric appears to be a late bloomer much like his brother was. He has made huge strides with his game in the last year and appears poised to continue his improvement. His length, athleticism, and ability to block shots with his timing and quick leaping ability have always been extremely impressive. But this summer it was his offensive game that really went to a new level. While he still isn't much of a threat outside of ten feet, his game with his back to the basket has improved dramatically as he has polished his footwork and a nice variety of moves. His athleticism also helps him to be an excellent finisher either in the half-court set or in transition, where he does a nice job of running the floor. He doesn't have the softest set of hands and also needs to develop a better feel for the game when forced to handle and pass the ball on the perimeter. Defensively, in addition to being an excellent shot-blocker, he does a nice job of banging in the post and shows good lateral quickness. Physically, he is strong and cut but has a frame that could support a good deal more muscle. Overall, his recent development has been impressive, although it appears to be just the tip of the iceberg.

God, Bayno is a recruiting machine. I cannot believe he filled 8! high quality scholarships before his first season even starts. I just hope he doesn't run out of scholarships once we do start winning and some big time talent wants to come to Loyola.
Lasme sounds like a great inside player and i cannot wait to hear more about him.

O also Lasme was a former Bryant University commit, under Coach Good. "Lasme is an terrific shot blocker and should provide us with an immediate presence inside," added Good. "He was recruited by several high major programs and is listed among the top-30 power forwards in the nation by ESPN High School Basketball." Top 30..Impressive

I cannot wait to see what he builds here in the next 2-3 years. He's off to a great start. Welcome to Romeric.

I had heard the about the possibility of Romaric joining the Lions a while back. From what I have read he is super athletic ( can put his elbow in the rim ) buy still very raw. Let's hope he progresses similar to his brother who started at Umass and end up in the NBA. Recruiting wise I believe Umass and Florida International were interested. With the coaching staff's help Romaric should develop very well. I can't wait to see all these guys in action.
Update: According to one blog other schools involved with Lasme were: Richmond, Rhode Island, Boston University, Virginia Tech and Rutgers.

Congrats on all the signings... Bayno has definitely proven himself a very capable recruiter. Definitely helps to have good NBA connections - especially with the future NBA dynasty Blazers! Anyway, side note... Lasme played at the same New England prep school (Winchendon) as UP's new 7 foot, 350 lb big man John Hegarty. UP then got another kid from that same league, a guard named Eric Waterford. And I know Bayno has been getting kids like Teel from the East Coast too. It's interesting to see the WCC's weaker teams starting to spread their recruiting net... other than Pargo, I can't really remember the last WCC kid from east of the Mississippi. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but still... hopefully it will help our programs out!

I guess the big positive from this is we have another scholly open for next year. Hopefully for either Vinson, Rudd or Garibay.

Interesting how when I first read their edit, they mentioned two recruits in the first paragraph, yet still mentioned the three in other places.

Interesting turn of events. I would have liked to see Lasme on our roster. A bit disappointing but nice to have that scholarship.

It would seem to me that what you are all reading is a very hasty rewrite. I can only guess that the change was a big surprise to the PR department at the very least.
I will not share what may be classified information - but opening up a scholarship is not what was behind this.
