That All Freshman list is a complete joke. I think it was pretty much unanimous from WCC fans and commentators that OJ deserved a spot on that list. I think maybe because we are in 8th place that was one last poke in the eye. Ridiculous.

I agree with the list. OJ did not make his team better and in spurts as I stated in an earlier post did not play as a team player (defense) and too many TO's. Can't make the list that way. LMU promoted this all year and you see how the WCC looks at it know and across the NCAA.

Well, well, well.....
All those posters on this board that says RT has brought in talent.......the WCC just plastered REALITY in your face. The WCC thinks our program is a complete joke and an embarrasment to the conference. The WCC probably was thinking that anyone of those freshman on that WCC list could pour in more points then O.J. if they were on our 25 loss squad. Those freshman that made the WCC list contributed to winning squads (except for Malcom Thomas). Sure O.J. averaged 12.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 25 mins. That is more than the other freshmen on the list except for Patty Mills.
Don't get me wrong. O.J. is the best we have and he will continue to become a HUGE player in our conference. When he is a senior, he will own many records and hopefully take us dancing. O.J. is a cornerstone to our program, but he needs help. RT seems not to be able to bring in others around him to help. Worthy had a cast of others. O.J. does not. Until that cast shows up, well....O.J. will be on a LOSING squad and not be formally recognized.
If this move my the WCC does not make LIONS FANS mad and write letters about such an aweful season to Lawton and Husak, I don't know what else will. 25 loss season....OUCH!
In my honest opinion, O.J. should of made the list regardsless of the losses.....but someone will always be left off....and that somebody was one on the worst team in the conference (let alone...the bottom 15% of the NCAA).

He did start ever single game as a freshman, and carried our whole team offensive at times. AAcoach I think you will be the only person on this board, and many other WCC boards, who thinks he should be left off.

He probably attributes this to RT having the offensive centered around Orlando Johnson. Deadwiler received MANY minutes this year (and sure he improved year upon year...nobody can doubt that...the minutes help), but aacoach is a firm believer that Deadwiler is a slasher and RT is not letting him play his own game. As such, you have Deadwiler logging 28 minutes on average and restricted on shooting outside jumpers. Hence the 34% shooting percentage. A nearly 1 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. I my opinion, Deadwiler is a slasher and probably a very good one. If he was in a system that promoted his talents, he would flurish. Deadwiler has a strong first step and solid presence of the court. AACOACH, if I left out anything or misinterpret....feel free to clean up the explanation. All this centers around the current players that Rodney Tention recruited DO NOT FIT his system. Either the coach needs to go or the coach needs to adapt his system to fit his players. It is extremely difficult for a player to adapt and be pressed to fit in a system.

And you can turn this into another RT bashing thread? Too much of this crap, dude. Bring your negativity elsewhere. You ain't gonna stop until you get your wish fullfilled, aren't you? If you have such strong opinion about RT, why don't you go tell him? Didn't you say you had a "couple" of conversation with him? If you don't tell him how does he know? Or are you the back-stabbing type of coward d-bag? Real comfortable hiding behind the LCD knowing the world can't hold you accountable for any comment, isn't it? RT will listen if you are man enough to tell him. Now, are you?

I like to handle things on a one-on-one basis. I would love to get a one-on-one with Lawton, Husak, or Rodney. The two times I have met Rodney was at function for Athletics. And if I was to tell him to resign, what do you think he will say. No, right?
Whatever, you say lmu. The truth hurts and the truth is that our program is in shambles. I will stop my campaign for a new coach on this board as I have said enough. Everyday, more and more of these posters are switching towards the side of reality. But for the good of this board, I will restrict my postings to exclude negative tones toward RT. I do this with utmost confidence that others will join in the campaign. Lawton and Husak need to answer the mail. It will be really telling if and when some of our Lions transfer.

Lionspride please let me have my own opinion, I'm my own person with my own beleif based off what I saw this year through my eyes. I'm not going to try to say what you are saying so please don't try to say what I'm saying. 1st the system RT is running is the same system Worthy and Matty Knight ran. Deadwiler is not my fan favorite, a winning program is. I still beleive and I don't mind standing alone on this one OJ didn't make the team because he didn't make the team a contender/better this year but this goes for all of the players. Just because you score points is not the only key. I do agree RT needs to do a better coaching job/more consistent with the whole squad and the squad needs to get stronger and fast but they will be good next year. LMU has the players in OJ, Deadwiler, Tim, Marko and Walker as a corner stone but I will not advocate OJ is the corner stone of the LMU squad. It takes a team to win not a player. OJ is strong and going to get better but so is Tim, Deadwiler, Walker with Marko being a strong backup especially with his soft touch from the outside. The rest I'm not to sure about but thats my take. And by the way I think the only freshman that started every game for LMU was Tim, OJ and Deadwiler gave there spot up on SR night to JZ and Khanne.

It's a shame that JZ never had much offensive production. If he would put #s on the board obviously that would start to turn heads but when it comes to a guy putting it all out on the floor, he wins. He should really be proud.

He should really be proud. How many of you, like me watched as JZ was honored, and thought "Wow. If you asked me in JZ's sohphomore year if he would start only a few games in his senior campaign I would have had your head examined"? I personally was one thinking like this. JZ is a great guy, a great hustler and gave tons to the program, but as I recall his career I saw a guy that from his Sophomore year to his senior year offensively did not improve. It was sad to see him play his last game at LMU, I just was expecting more out of him by his senior year. When I saw him in his sophomore year at the WCC tournament when LMU advanced to the finals I thought "man, this guy is going to be a complete stud". While he had an okay career, I personally expected more out of him. I am in no way trying to bash the kid because I have met him many times and he is a great/ caring individual, but did anyone else have higher expectations for his career?

One word: Coaching After being at USD for the game on monday and friday, I've come to see that the players are just not responding to RT and you can tell by their body language on the court. Also, at Halftime, Eddie Sutton COACHED his players and exploited our defense by running the pick and roll all second half... dior lowhorn completely Dominated us in the paint in the second 20 minutes. RT's adjustments during the 2nd half? None. That's poor in-game coaching and as stated before, does not develop his players as JZ hasn't fulfilled expectations. However, even after the performance on friday and the 5-26 season, RT deserves one more year and if we aren't .500 in 2008-2009 he's gotta go.
