2 shockers....Portland and USF victories. Good for our conference, but both scare me in terms that those players confidence is going to be higher. The way we played so far in the first two games of the World Vision Classic, it gets me worried that we are going to be fighting for the bottom two spots of the conference. I was previously thinking we may end up having a good shot at #5 or #6, but I guess this will be a battle this year in the lower half as well.
St. Mary's victory is a good beat down. USD represented well against UNLV. I wish them all well. Gonzaga victory is expected as Few brings in patty cakes into their arena at the outset of the season and then gets "neutral site" games at Spokane Arena with some high programs. Typical Zags.

Props to Portland for an outstanding win. That's the kind of win we would love to have and good to see that Reveno's hard work is paying off.
I was able to watch the USD-UNLV game. USD gave a very good account of themselves. Toreros were without three key players who were suspended (Pomare, Trumaine Johnson, and Houston), yet battled a very good Rebel team to the wire.
Brandon Johnson and Rob Jones were scary good at times.
UNLV has a freshman guard named Oscar Bellfield (I think he was mentioned on here at a time) that looked spectacular at times. He could be something special. Wink Adams is still one of the most clutch players in the country and a joy to watch.

De'jon Jackson didn't play for the Toreros as well. He was out with a knee.

Pilots fying high this year. Two great non-conference wins already. Our friends in Malibu are racking up a fair amount of losses and they have full roster and head coach. USF doing great put of the gate at 5-1.

Gaels beat Providence in Anaheim. Zags leading Tennessee at the half on ESPN2, good game.

The Waves get surfed on big time 99-64 by now 3-6 Cal State Northridge, who's only other D1 win was against Denver. Apparently the Matadors were winning by 43! before the Waves scored the last eight points in garbage time. Glad we haven't been a victory that one sided yet. Ouch

That is really a harsh loss. We got blown out but at least it was to #13 in the nation. In our case we have a lot of talent waiting to come in. The Waves are playing with pretty much a full roster and their two recruits coming in next year aren't too special. The freshman this year will have to improve a lot for them to head in the right direction.
The next couple of games which are on the road are tough for them too. Gtech (who have a lot of injuries) and Buffalo who almost took down Uconn.

Can't defend our performance too much, other than to say we are missing our key leader and ball handler in SR Ryan Holmes. His absence is very noticeable to our followers.
Not that it will matter one bit, but we have Gtech in Malbu this year. Good luck until we meet!

I didn't know Holmes was still out. Hopefully when Teel for us and Holmes for you guys we can get a few wins under our belts. Regardless, the first Lions vs. Waves should be a interesting one.

if we are still winless and pepperdine still has 1 win, and if we beat the waves at home.... can we storm the court?

I mean technically we could because when was the last time we beat them? I dunno I would only do it if other agreed to do it?
