Riverside is 5-2 and top of the Big West. Let's hope the finals week rust is gone and we are refocused. We can't have another 22 turn over night.
Riverside gets most of their scoring from the backcourt. JD will need to lock down Brandon Dowdy their leading scorer.
I'm really proud of how Jarred, Kevin and Laron have been playing. Corey has been solid. It will interesting to see if Ashley is suited up.
NOTES: Bryson Hampton on UCR was a former Tention LMU recruit. Larry Gurganious former Zag transfered to UCR and is red shirting this year.

Sorry at this point this is bull. UCR were without the leading scorer and another player. Small facilities and whooping our butts. You get rid of two good players Johnson and Deadwiler and this is what we get. I'm not happy, the AD needs to come clean with what's going on just like he did when he hired Banyo. This is not rebuilding with the losses mounting the players and fans get discouraged. We need to fix this and quick.
No a happy LMU fan, were in a recession and a regression at LMU.
My thoughs and I have my right to them.

FYI-Johnson and Deadwiler left by their own choosing. I would rather lose 25 games in a row and have the transfers and recruits we have know opposed to our roster last year. Really happy with our defensive effort...could have used a bit more offense.

Well your "look over here" mentality (good defensive effort last night) matches how Husak conveys messages to the fans, boosters, and alumni (Oh, but look over here....our Water Polo team is doing well and never mind our men's basketball program that I have spent the last 5 e-mail AD Updates promoting the program.....that is the equivalent of investing $1,000,000 in Bear Sterns stock and $1,000 in Wal-Mart stock. Wal-Mart stock has gone up doing this recession because people are flocking to discount retailers and Bear Sterns when bubble up with alot of smoke and mirror. So you lost nearly everything in Bear Sterns but you have a 50% ROI on Wal-Mart. Wow....you are still in the hole $999,500). I would appreciate you start shooting it straight on this board given your basketball knowledge. You can tell this board is changing their feelings on the Husak Kool-Aid. Don't give any excuses......We are 0-10. Unacceptable. We should have atleast 1-3 wins by now.

Kyle Austin, USC transfer, played his first game for UCR last night. He's a hell of a player. If the BW had Newcomer of the Year, he would win it.
I thought Husack would turn things around at LMU. But he needs to go. Bad hires and allowing JW to continue her average ways.
Interesting how he is trying to lower expectations. Samething happened at LB.

gdawg,
So your saying your willing to have a couple of wins provided by D2 players as opposed the best recruiting class in the WCC and two top 100 players transfers. I'm sorry but I really disagree.
This is something you posted:
Any news at all. The Coach that is taking his team to D1 is not coming so who's next I would hope none of RT's holdovers.
Being winless sucks. It would have been nice to pick up a few wins early in the season when we had Hamilton and Teel healthy. We have only really had a healthy roster excluding Sutton and Diedrich for 4 games this year. We have to look at what we have... three freshman, four walk ons, a senior who averages around 2 points a game, and a undersized forward in Sweezy. Realistic how many games do you think we can win.
Come to the game and look at how hard they players are trying. Then go up to to them after and tell them "we stink".

Don't care how hard players are playing and putting in the effort....when you have no head coach and no timeline.....you become lost. No fault to these players. Administration needs to put the screws to the Bayno situation. Get a timeline out there for the players and fans. Have Bayno stick to the timeline for his return. A timeline will cure the blues. Be honest and upfront. Unless this LOA is due to something else besides stress. If the aforementioned is true, LMU needs to get their attorneys to look over the Bayno contract and find an "out." A decision needs to be made because our future is in limbo. Just fyi....if Bayno does not return and we have a less than 5 win season....what coach on this planet would want to take that job.....take it one step further...what recruit would want to play for us with a brand new coach with nearly 19 consecutive losing seasons. If Bayno does not return, our LMU Men's Basketball program may never recover if LMU Athletic Administration lets this drag on.

I have just been looking on from afar lately and letting all you guys debate about this season but let me say this to some of you who are continually bashing THE TEAM. Husak is one thing, but if you believe that the future of LMU basketball is not bright, you are as blind as a bat. Everyone knew that BEFORE THE INJURIES this was going to be a long year. I think we all were fooled and got our hopes up mistakenly by a huge blowout exhibition win and then a supposed win in a scrimmage over USC. That being said, we were still picked to finish second to last by the coaches in the WCC. And as I previously stated, that is before the injuries. You then take injuries to Sutton, Teel, Hamilton and Diedrichs, and that means four of your top 8 players are out for a significant amount of time. With these injuries, it leaves our team with Sweezy playing significant minutes, and our guards JD and CC having to play more minutes than they are used to. I have no idea how some of you expect to win games with the injuries we have sustained and the current roster we are left with. Do you really think we are going to be able to beat teams with Sweezy playing over 20 minutes a game? Do you really think we are going to win games with Marco Deric playing significant minutes, and our team only having 7 players suited up? Be realistic here fellas. This team is not built for the present, it is built for the future. Imagine this..... Tim Diedrichs, Jared Dubois, Laron Armstead, and Ashley Hamilton all being role players next year. That is virtually what they all will be. I see Teel at the one, Davis at the two, Viney at the three, Young at the four and Garribay at the five. With that lineup, the future is extremely bright. Can you imagine Laron Armstead or Ashley Hamilton or even Given Kalipinde as our 8th or 9th player??? That team barring the injuries we have had this year will be in the mix for a WCC title as early as next year. Notice I do not mention Vinson though because it is still up in the air if he will come. Vinson or no Vinson though, this team has immense talent, and we need to recognize that. This season can not be judged by the amount of wins or losses the team accumulates. No D1 program will win games with 4 of their top 8 out for such a long time..... and with 7 players on the bench. Keep that stuff all in perspective. When you go to sleep at night don't be thinking about 0-10, rather be thinking of next years lineup. Bayno and staff were not expected to turn Tention's mess around over night. Give them a little time. The recruits they are pulling in are recruits LMU could have only dreamed of getting in the past. And for you guys who mentioned Orlando Johnson and Deadweiler... place either of those players on next years squad and I would guarentee you both players (especially Deadweiler) would be struggling for any time at all. So Lionspride, I hear you with the Husak stuff. I am not a huge fan myself. But LMU Mens and Women's basketball is looking as high as the heavens for the future. Let's get through this tough year and then enjoy the future success that is sure to come.Lets hope our players and coach gets healthy, and then add the core from this years team to amazingly talented players such as Viney, Davis, Garribay and possibly Vinson. Have faith Lions. Have faith.

Players can pressure schools to let them out of their LOIs. That's how we got Dubois, after all, since SMU underwent a coaching change after he signed.
zagsfan, very well said. Just having the depth for next year will improve us by leaps and bounds, let alone the talent surge. There's no need for panic when this is a temporary NCAA sanctioned/injury caused bench depletion.
