Well at least for me since I haven't been to LMU in a couple years. But the new seating is very nice, finally getting rid of those wood bleacher on one side and putting all chairbacks and cupholders on the other.
Still would be nice for an overhead scoreboard at midcourt. But the improvements are really nice.
But I normally take Loyola Rd? Blvd? to get to LMU. But that entrance was blocked and there was no guard on duty. I guess I could have gone around to the entrance off of Lincoln but I was already there, so I just parked in the neighborhood and walked. Why is that entrance at Loyola closed?
The WBB tourney used to draw some really good teams. But the quality of teams in this year's tourney is way down.

Gotta love the NIMBY's. Umm hello McFly, it's not like a university was built two years after you moved into the neighborhood. Not sure the history of LMU, whether the school was there first. But I doubt many current residents lived there before LMU opened.
There will be traffic. Guess those Nimbys are preventing lights on the baseball and softball stadiums too.
So now I'm kinda of glad I parked in the neighborhood, maybe piss off one of those NIMBY's.
I do understand the need for better security. So they should put a guard on duty at the Loyola entrance. I know school is out right now and the campus is pretty empty. But with a tourney going on, put a guard at that entrance from 2-7 pm.
Forgot to mention the video scoreboard is great.

Security indeed must be tight. Pretty sure at the last men's home game each fan had their own individual security guard, might have even been two guards per person.
Just kidding.

It's enhancing the spectator experience, no?

According to the pictures of LMU and good ol' wikipedia, the university was there before all the houses...do ANY of those houses look like they were built in 1929? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm no. Anyone who moved there needs to learn to shut the hell up and should have found somewhere else to live if they had a problem. But OH - WAIT! This is rich Westchester, where everyone thinks they are more important than everyone else. Whatever happened to the seniority rule? I hate people.

I do agree that the neighbors are a bunch of damn NIMBY's. I know not every LMU student grew up with a silver spoon. But the irony of this post is just shocking. LMU doesn't exactly attract a lot of low income students. Most students are well off. So the irony of somebody who seems to be a LMU student, blasting somebody for being rich is amazing.

I agree titanczar.
Its one of those problems that both sides have dug their heels in, kind of like my broccoli battles with my parents growing up. They want students to eat their vegetables and observe a modicum of decency, and the students want to eat ice cream all day and experience the "college experience".
If I'm raising my toddlers, the last thing I want are drunks at 2am peeing on my son's big wheel.
OTOH, college students want houses to get ham-boned in, and things to pee on. Lord knows I did.
My solution: make LMU kids buy their own big wheels. Cuts down on DUIs as well.
As far as the senority rule crazycage, last time I checked, they own their property, whereas the majority of LMU kids rent their frat pads. Possession/ownership is 9/10 of the law.

I'm still advocating more controls on those renting out houses in the area. In an ideal world, the university would buy up the rented houses, allowing it to have more authority over what goes on in them.
Then again, there's also the all too prevalent entitlement issue, which can be seen with the fight over the recycling center and the lack of lighting for Sullivan Field and Page Stadium.

I am just sick and tired of the neighbors complaining. There is not that many parties that go on in the neighborhood. We have given in, too much. We can't even have lights on our athletic fields because of them. They won't even compromise. I feel a good compromise would be one or two games a week with lights and no night practices. I think that is fair. If this happened we may be able to get some more fans to the baseball and soccer games and maybe the community could join us.
Most other small towns would embrace a great college to go watch games at but the people in Westchester feel entitled. They use the campus to excerize and they use our fields but complain about things the students may want to do.
I also believe that Loyola used to own almost the whole block on Loyola Blvd., from the gates to 83rd.

I didn't even realize what kind of statement I was making!! HAHAHAHAA Yeah guys, I am by NO MEANS rich. Financial aid was my best friend; I was a work study student, and I will be paying for LMU for the next 20 years. I'm actually trying to encourage my students to look into LMU and not be afraid to take out financial aid for their education. I just hope that this clears up any sort of confusion behind my statement? lol

As far as the senority rule crazycage, last time I checked, they own their property, whereas the majority of LMU kids rent their frat pads. Possession/ownership is 9/10 of the law. My comments were merely as a response to the idea that, while I was there, people began complaining about all the students parking in their neighborhoods because there isn't enough parking on campus....or the fact that we can't have any night baseball or soccer games because the residents complain about the lights. I totally agree that they should have the right to a peaceful neighborhood where Greeks and freshmen aren't being loud or destructive, BUT they should know to expect this stuff....the best they can do is complain to the landlords, not the school, though.
