OOC WCC Attendance Stats

So now that conference play is coming around I was wondering how the attendance numbers came out for all of the WCC schools. Here are the standings.

1. Gonzaga(4 Home Games)-6000 avg. a game
2. Saint Mary's(5 Home Games)-3248 avg. a game
3. USD(7 Home Games)- 2234 avg. a game
4. LMU(6 Home Games)-2067 avg. a game
5. USF(5 Home Games)-1939 avg. a game
6. Santa Clara(5 Home Games)-1625 avg. a game
7. Portland(7 Home Games)-1351 avg. a game
8.Pepperdine(8 Home Games)-a measly 781 avg. a game

I think this is a great sign that even though until today our team had no wins, our fans are supporting our team pretty dam well. It especially impressive because 4 out of our 6 home games took place while us students were home on break. The average for the 2 games with students in session=3487 ;D. ROAR has been a great part of getting students to the game, and I'm glad our school is able to support the team this year, while looking forward to the future successes. It is really too bad that the Pepperdine game happens the weekend BEFORE school starts for the second semester, but I'm pretty sure ROAR is renting a bus for students wanting to go to the game. I am still excited about today's win. Lets beat those waves.

Pepperdine is really hurting in attendance. I'd love to see lion fans go up to Malibu and make Fireside our house.

These stats are deceiving. We only had 5 home games that counted toward these stats. One of those home games was against at top 10 program that was completely sold out and standing room only. It will skee the stats a bit.....so much so that when we only have 5 home games and one is a sell out....it is more realistic that we are about #6. Let's wait until the end of the season to compare apples to apples.

Typically LMU's attendance has been pretty good compared to other WCC schools. We trend in the top half of attendance even though we haven't finished in the top half in awhile.

I'd love to see an environment like Notre Dame for every game though. That will come once we start winning and build some hype of our own.

The one game I went to at USD revealed something really sad; they bribe their fans to show up to the game. They had a HUGE raffle for USD students only (something like $1000 + a DVD player), and, after the raffle at halftime, Jenny Craig Pavilion cleared out. I was under the impression that they did big raffles at every game, which makes sense because USD is a pretty affluent school, so I've heard.

I believe these numbers are quite misleading
I do not know if there is a WCC guideline for this but i know from this board that there have been a few games at Gersten that the attendance was 50 people 10 minutes before gametime.....and the Zags are sold out everygame even though their board is upset that so many seats go unused especially the student section..
I believe what they do is keep all tickets sold for the game in those numbers and that would include the season ticket holders, tickets that are set aside for family and friends etc...
Typically at St. Mary's the counts are quiet accurate but i was at a game that i thought it was slightly overstated....it is sometimes hard to tell because sometimes the sold out is 3500 but they have come up with creative ways to get fans into the Pavilion and not upset the fire marshal so when there are actually 3500 it looks like less.
