This is a big rivalry game for us this Saturday, 5pm for women and 8pm for men. It'll be televised on ESPNU but I hope people drive down Lincoln and support the team.
Any word on if Teel will be active? I think we have a good chance and bringing home a win with or without him.

Like Bakersfield this will be a close game between two struggling teams. statsheet.com/mcb/games/2009/01/10/2009-01-10_loyola-marymount_vs_pepperdineI thought the key to success last weekend would be keeping the score low but an explosion Dubois helped us top Bakersfield's avg points per game. I don't know if Dubois has another Kobe like performance in him to help our offense. Will be interesting to see who steps up.

I was really hoping that Teel would be back for Pepperdine. According to his facebook, he still has to sit out. Luckily Pepperdine is the one team in the WCC we could beat with out him.

No matter how much Pepperdine sucks in a season, they always manage to beat us somehow...it's like our players feel too much pressure for the rivalry that they buckle. Weird. I hope we can manage to "break the waves." On the other hand, it feels like Pepperdine doesn't care if the only team they beat is LMU because at least they've hung onto the crown in the rivalry war.....
I REEALLY hope fans show up for this. I was pleasantly surprised a few years ago; Roar showed up at the Gonzaga game in full force, when it was scheduled the weekend before school started. The rest of the fan section was pretty empty, but Roar was there. It just stinks that they don't get to have a Rivalry Week like they usually do.

I sure hope they do. I was at the last ROAR for sign ups and I signed my name for the bus, but I haven't gotten email about it yet. It was really dumb to schedule this important game the weekend before we get back to school, especially because Pepperdine comes is back this week. O well I hope the email comes and ROAR is in full force.

Dang where has my head been? I thought the game was at LMU. Ohhhh I feel so much better now.
When I was a junior, the sororities happened to have Spring Rush going on during the week we played Pepperdine at Firestone. They made it mandatory for girls who rushed to go to the game. We ended up taking up the entire LMU fan section and flowing over to the Pepperdine side. By the time all the LMU kids had shown up, we had more LMU students at Firestone than all the Pepperdine fans, total, I'm almost positive. GOOD JOB, GREEKS!!!! I wish they kept that one up because it was an ingenious idea. Some Pepperdine fans ended up sitting near me and complained the whole time, trying to pick a fight with LMU fans for cheering on our side. PU's AD almost kicked my friend out because he wouldn't go to the seat his ticket designated. I believe that was when Husak saved his butt by sticking up for him. That game was also the one where the stupid ass PU staff wouldn't let our 3 of our WBB girls into the court without tickets, so BO KIMBLE himself paid the staff member off to let the girls in.
Way to go, PU. Way to be classy.
--Anybody remember the year they tried to test the Pepperdine mascots? They had a Power Ranger assortment of Super Waves. HILARIOUS idea....

I know it's before school lets in, but hey - why not?

I believe the true question is how a body of water manages to wear sandals, shorts, and a Hawaiian shirt.
Of course, I will always fondly remember Iggy schooling ol' Willie at the tourney up in Portland a couple years ago. Good times.

LOL I don't know if those are the Power Rangers I'm talking about. The link for opinions leaked to LMU kids over the summer. So LMU kids spammed it with opinions saying how dumb it was and they ended up not using the concept. It was REALLY bad though....I mean REALLY REALLY bad. It was the perfect ammunition.
Of course, you're not including Neptune...the sacrilegious mascot that they had. A VERY Christian university using a Greek GOD as a mascot?! On THEIR behalf, I'm glad they finally woke up.
But Waves are a pretty wimpy mascot to have....

I beleive Neptune was a Roman God.

If you want to get really technical, Roman gods are just renamed Greek gods, so same thing, basically. Let's just use the term "Pagan" to satisfy everyone.
