We'll definitely be in better shape once Vernon comes back. Great effort though, and that buzzer shot was insanity.
Now, a couple points:
First, when the heck did Pepp get an actual band? As far back as I can remember, they either brought in a high school or had a contracted jazz foursome.
Secondly, I think that both sides need fresh heckling chants. "Pepperdine Rejects" and "What time's curfew?" have worn out their welcome.

Man 2 point loss! If we had our full roster we would have won this game by at least 15. Peppy has some talented guards but over all I don't see much .

Gutty effort tonight. Made me proud despite the loss.
Anybody else notice who was MIA the second half?

I agree with ironlions - we played a 6 man team in the 2nd half and one of those had 4 fouls the entire way. With a full roster (or even just 2 more guys (not including Marko)) we would have blown them out. Hard to believe we haven't won at Pepp in 12 years now. Most of our current starters were 6 years old! It just hurts my soul.
But, even with all that - I would still rather be a Lion then a Wave. (God their mascot is stupid.)

That shot at the buzzer was BEYOND amazing, though. Too bad it didn't do much of anything. My sister was at the game and said the refs were ridiculous....but who's surprised there? There was one ref I recognized right off the back and knew was bad news.

Wish we had won this game on my birthday.
I was at the Kings-Devils game last night (had excellent seats), but we lost 5-1.

First time poster here. One thing I haven't seen mentioned:
The announcer at the start of game said that we "hear more about" the status of Bill Bayno "in two weeks". That's the first I've heard of any type of official update. I'm wondering where they got that information I have not seen anything from the official channels (surprise surprise) and unless I missed a subsequent mention on last night's broadcast, they did not expand upon the subject.

Stonewall,
I heard the same thing. And no, the TV announcers didn't bring it up again. They spent almost the entire game talking about the future of the Ripples program and the quality of the young Ripple talent. (It seemed to me that the announcers really saw us as the inferior team - they seemed surprised that we kept it so close.)
But, in regard to the 2 week mention. I can only speculate but we have our home conference opener in two weeks - so I am going to guess that if he doesn't make it back by then - then he is out for the season. Personally, I think the fact that the missed last nights game should really mean he's out for the season - but I guess Husak sees the home opener as the deadline.
(I give it a very slim chance of him coming back this season. From what I now about anxiety and depression - it takes quite a bit of time to find the right mix of medications to help control it. Too much medication and you lose your personality - too little and the issues are not solved. Also, these medications don't take effect overnight. It takes weeks and weeks to build up enough in your system to get a good idea how they are affecting you.)
At this point the only upshot of him making it back this season is that he will be able to see how he can handle game day pressures. I would much rather he know this year if he has solved his issues then next.

Wow. How depressing.... In regards to the game - my sister and her boyfriend were there, sitting behind the bench and Dr. Husak. You know it's a poorly called game when even the Lions' AD is going crazy over the refereeing. We were beat up under the basket so many times and no calls were made. Then again....at this point, I can almost call a game just by looking at the refs before it even starts. <cue "shoot the zebras" chant NOW> ************ON A MORE POSITIVE NOTE***************** That final shot should make the highlights reel on ESPN. W :oW!!!!!

ya i agree! the refs were the worst part of the whole game! I did not understand why they did not call anything! I was at the game as well and Husak was going nuts over the refs!

We kind of have a joke/theory going that if the refs are bald, we'll lose the game. Generally, refs who have a full head of hair seem to be a bit more unbiased.... Of course, there's also the theory that the opposing teams "bend over" for the refs. hahaha
