From Rivals.
Four-star prospect Terrell Vinson of Baltimore (Md.) St. Francis High School spent this week considering whether or not he would attend Loyola Marymount after Billy Bayno's resignation on Monday, and the 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward has come to a conclusion.
Vinson will be in demand this spring. Vinson has asked for a release from his Letter of Intent and has reopened his recruitment. It is another crushing blow for a rebuilding program, but Vinson is confident that Loyola Marymount will indeed release him.
"I talked to them yesterday and asked for the release," said Vinson. "They said we would talk more today, but they talked like they would give me the release."
There is a remote possibility that Vinson could still end up at Loyola Marymount, but odds are extremely strong that he will stay closer to home.
"They're trying to get me to come out there, but I'll probably stay closer to home," said Vinson.
At this initial stage, Vinson is aware of interest from Wake Forest, UMass and South Florida. His re-recruitment, however, won't start in earnest until he is released.
Vinson, the No. 81 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, turned down Georgetown and Maryland before signing with Loyola Marymount in the fall.
Last night in a blowout win for St. Francis, Vinson put up 17 points, ten rebounds and seven assists. This is just horriable. Probably one of the best recruits in the history of the WCC. Well the say everything happens for a reason.

Painful but not unexpected and not the worst thing to happen to our program this season. In a way, it is kind of refreshing - the last of the unknowns is settled - time to move on.

Yes- Its good its was over quickly. Like yanking off a band aid.
Hopefully the coaches have some back up plans.

Dang, that stinks... when it rains, it pours. (Believe me, I feel your pain... have you seen our record in the past 25 years?!)
So that frees up a spot for a Coach Good recruit... how many roster/scholarship spots are now open for next year?

Well this opens up a spot for sure. Not sure on the status of Sweezy and Sutton.

Now that Vinson is just about gone, I wonder if Victor Rudd still has interest in us. We were getting heavy at his position, but it would be a great replacement for Vinson. Hopefully Good can rekindle that recruitment

Rudd's academics are a huge issue.

Talking to the assistant AD tonight, apparently they already have a couple player's they're looking at. In terms of overall recruiting, they're actually much more invested in Garibay at the moment, with Vinson being more of an added plus.

Well, this may be a mixed blessing--time for some unsubstantiated insider info ;D
I have an excellent source at one of the schools that was actively recruiting Vinson and when LMU got him I spoke with that source just to talk a little smack like "ha ha we got him over your big program".
Source then told me that they their program had given up on him a week or so before due to the fact that he and/or his representatives were "looking for more than we were comfortable giving."
Take that for what you will.

Interesting...I read that was also interested in playing time. Not sure how much we would get if he signed with say Wake Forest. If he was at LMU he would be on the court A LOT.

Once again SukenLions is one of my friends. The only purpose of his posts on this board is to antagonize me. Please disregard anything he says.

Everything works out for the best in the long term. If Vinson actually came, it might be the beginning of a new era. But we will do OK without him in the WCC if we keep the current team in tact
