Four-star prospect Terrell Vinson of Baltimore (Md.) St. Francis High School spent this week considering whether or not he would attend Loyola Marymount after Billy Bayno's resignation on Monday, and the 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward has come to a conclusion.
Vinson will be in demand this spring.
Vinson has asked for a release from his Letter of Intent and has reopened his recruitment. It is another crushing blow for a rebuilding program, but Vinson is confident that Loyola Marymount will indeed release him.
"I talked to them yesterday and asked for the release," said Vinson. "They said we would talk more today, but they talked like they would give me the release."
There is a remote possibility that Vinson could still end up at Loyola Marymount, but odds are extremely strong that he will stay closer to home.
"They're trying to get me to come out there, but I'll probably stay closer to home," said Vinson.
At this initial stage, Vinson is aware of interest from Wake Forest, UMass and South Florida. His re-recruitment, however, won't start in earnest until he is released.
Vinson, the No. 81 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, turned down Georgetown and Maryland before signing with Loyola Marymount in the fall.
Last night in a blowout win for St. Francis, Vinson put up 17 points, ten rebounds and seven assists.
This is just horriable. Probably one of the best recruits in the history of the WCC.
