Heister and Ehlo couldn't be bigger Zag homers. Why does L.A. have to put up with such Spokanistan influences?!

What a slaughter. The score doesn't really tell the story (that Goonzaga could have easily won by 50).

We got a nice crowd out to watch us get lambasted. Great effort by Kevin tonight. Sweezy plays his ass off. We have played the top half of the conference...we should be more competitive in the upcoming games.

You guys really thought it was THAT bad? You really thought we were going to do ANY better than that?
I am not surprised at all. In fact, I was really impressed with some of the plays they were able to make. Some steals and blocks they made, a few shots they were able to make while being clobbered under the basket were pretty impressive compared to what we're used to seeing....they only lost by 33, which - while that DOES suck - was a smaller margin than Pepperdine lost by. I'm still convinced that Pepperdine doesn't care about beating any other team but LMU, since they have only managed to beat us for the past few years.
For being a down-on-their-luck team this year, those guys really tried their best with what they had. Whether or not they went into that game knowing they would lose, they still tried their best to close that margin of loss. I commend them for not giving up until the end...from what I saw on the TV. Even the refs managed to make better calls than usual from my POV.
Yeah. Game sucked. But did anyone REALLY expect that we would beat Gonzaga?

"Heister and Ehlo couldn't be bigger Zag homers. Why does L.A. have to put up with such Spokanistan influences?!"
Ehlo and Heister are employees of KHQ-TV in Spokane, which produces the Gonzaga broadcasts of all games that are not covered by ESPN/ABC or CBS, and then licenses them to Fox Sports Northwest. For some reason, FSN seems willing to pay for any broadcast KHQ will send them.
You could have your own homer announcers. Just get one of your local TV stations to hire some suitable talent and produce a broadcast of each of your games in the same manner, and then ask your local Fox Sports affiliate to pick them up and broadcast them all over the region or the country.
You probably want to start with racking up three or four 25-win seasons in a row, which is how Gonzaga managed it. Then after five or six more 25-win seasons in a row, you can get a 10-year contract extension, which Gonzaga signed a few months ago.
Presto! You don't have to listen to any more Gonzaga homer announcers.

I was elated that the soles of Max Good’s shoes were vacant of toilet paper shreds, as he emerged from the LMU locker room precisely at the moment the ball was put into play to the start the second half.
Perhaps, in the future, one of the ball boys might want to remain behind in the locker room to alert Max with a thud on the commode door, as the halftime clock winds down, it’s more traditional to be seated on the bench at that start of every half.
Unless of course we’ve done away with ball boys, which just might be the case as none were present tonight, and the team manager’s white towel sweat sop skills and versatility were adroitly displayed at one point. But I thought he should have just used his fat tie.
Which leads me to a completely off topic point, which is that the world spun dervish like out of control exactly at the moment men stopped wearing skinny ties and top hats.
Plus, maybe it's okay to run more than one back door play per game.

extreamjim,
You are missing one other thing that we need in order to get our own broadcasters: A city with no competition.
If we could just get rid of the Lakers and Clippers and UCLA and USC - we might just have a shot of getting our team on FOX every game.

The Lady Lions were homered too. It was TOTALLY ridiculous. Why even play the game if the refs have already decided who's going to win. The refs are going to make sure no one beats the Lady Zags. Sad.

I don't know if we can blame a 25 point blow on the refs. We also only shot 15% from 3.

I concur with iron as I pleaded last week: enough about the refs already. They are all but irrelevant amidst this carnage.
In the light of day, what was totally depressing about this game was how light years ahead Goonzaga's program is.
Also, this game basically confirmed something I had begun to be suspicious about on Thursday, which is that either the players for whatever reason are unable to consistently execute the coach's game plan (inexperience, fatigue, all of the above), or the more alarming possibility that THERE IS NO GAME PLAN.
And P.S. a clarification: please note that it was a Pepperdine fan complaining about the announcers--the announcers being EVEN MORE irrelevant amidst the carnage than the refs.

Sad. Just like the refs are going to try and make sure LMU never beats ANYONE...ESPECIALLY Pepperdine. Been watching that happen for the past seven years. However, refereeing on Saturday was pretty evenly matched, if you ask me.

I realize a few days have passed since the GU game, but I thought I’d pass along a largely irrelevant story about the game…
I was up in Spokane at a wedding on Saturday and found myself huddled around a TV in the corner of the country club where the reception was held watching Gonzaga dismantle our team. I was, of course, the only LMU fan in the mix and many of the 10-12 others watching the game were GU alums or had children who went there. I mentioned that I was an LMU alum and upon reluctantly admitting this, one would have thought that I had just said that my pet hamster died by the reaction I received from the GU fans. They all offered their condolences about the state of our program and were, for the most part, perplexed as to how things got this bad. Several wondered by Tention was fired, and others said that it was a shame that Bayno flamed out, given the recruiting potential he was already bringing to the school. All in all, they seemed saddened to hear that a fellow WCC school had fallen to such depths.
But I guess what I’m getting at here is that I was blown away by the response I received from these fans of one of the nation’s most solid basketball programs. Of course Spokane is a much different sports climate, but I had to hand it to these Zag fans – not only for their impressive knowledge of the WCC, but also for the understanding they had to a fan of a rival school that has fallen on hard times. It seems they know that a WCC school getting this bad isn’t good for the conference as a whole…but they also seemed to empathize with the plight of our fans and truly felt bad for us.
Anyway, I just thought I’d share that story.

The Zags fans i have come across are always very classy. There are few new bandwagon fans on their board that are different but all in all good people.

Maybe you're thinking of the St. Mary's score, which was indeed absurd? And it's not that we don't care about beating any other team, we just expect to be beat by any other team..
