If he's flat out rejoining the Blazers staff, then he officially played us, and Husak will have quite a bit of explaining to do.

Once again we refer to the old adage, "those who don't learn their history are doomed to repeat it".
Go back and look at the Tim Grgurich situation at UNLV. The exact same scenario is playing out.
He will never be a head coach again (unless it is with Talk n Text).

If this is truly the case, what, then, is the REAL reason Bayno left?
I honestly wonder if it has anything to do with a conflict of interest between Bayno and Husak. Nothing is adding up anymore.

haha. Is lionspride suspension up anytime soon? I would love to hear his take. Actually, I would wait a little while till a day when I am very depressed, check it out, and then laugh my ass off.

"Bayno said he called Blazers coach Nate McMillan three weeks ago, and worked his first day at practice on Friday after being cleared by his doctor.
He had spent the two previous years on the Blazers’ bench, focusing largely on player development, and previously worked for the organization as an international scout.
Bayno declined to discuss the Loyola Marymount situation, saying he may be willing to talk about it after the season."
Wait, so before you officially resigned from LMU you were talking to Coach McMillion? Thats nice Bill. Very classy you are. I feel like I just got kicked in the nuts. Anyone else?

When this whole thing went down, I heard an off the record comment from a coach from an established national program "Looks like he forgot how easy it is being an assistant."
Maybe he got a couple months in and realized "this just isn't for me" and bailed. I mean it could be just as simple as that, right? Many people make commitments and break them for reasons profound and reasons trivial. Look at the divorce rate in this country, right?
So the question is, what is LMU going to do now? Bayno is in the rearview mirror and while the whole thing was a depressing, sick joke, I want to hear some answers as to how this administration is going to proceed in the future.

I understand your side stonewall, and that could possibly be it. But the timetable is just not adding up. If you actually are going to rejoin portland, wait at least till next year so it looks as if you recovered from your "serious" medical issues. Don't call up the Portland Coach while you are going through these horrible times, and still at LMU!, and ask for your job back.

Yep. We were played. I wonder if he was still being paid during his LOA. Seems like we can at least go after him for the amount he got after making the call to McMillan.
Husak better make a statement on this ASAP, because he is on some pretty thin ice after this one.

WOW! I am very torn about this. Everything I have heard points to his depression / stress being very very real. I will give him that. And being a head coach is not the same as being a "development" assistant. (sounds like an easy gig). We all wished him the best when he left - and it seems to me that he is getting a major "do-over" in regard to his life choices. If only LMU were so lucky. On the other hand - I hope that A) he returned whatever $ we paid him. and B) He uses some of his easy NBA $ and makes some nice "sorry about that" donations to the program. We bent over back wards for the guy. It might have just been in more ways then one.

bayno [bey-noh] - verb. to claim an illness to get one's old job back: Not liking his new job, Peter decided to bayno by calling in sick for a week, and was back at his old desk on Monday.
