I’m doing the best to focus on what we do have as opposed to what we don’t. From everyone I have talked to the players are happy to play for Coach Good and staff and are strongly committed to LMU. As this season is slowly coming to a close I’m starting to look forward to next year and I really like what I see. Our starting five should be as follows:
PG- Larry Davis
SG- Vernon Teel
SF- Kevin Young
PF- Drew Viney
C- Edgar Garibay
That is an extremely talented team. I’m not sure how many of you have seen Larry and Drew play but they are excellent. Vernon a scoring machine, Kevin offensive game is really coming around. With some more weight Kevin will be a force. There will be little drop off coming of the bench. Jarred Dubois will get a lot of minutes. He is smart and savy and shown us how he can run a team. From what I have read about Given he seems to be very athletic. I look forward to watching him this summer. Ashley is extremely athletic and will be a tough match up. We never really got to see Ashley in action this year. The only game we really saw him was vs. ND where he scored 10 points on Haringody with a stress fracture in his back. Could have been a few more if some lay-ups went in. We really got a steal in Laron. He is tough and has some savy moves underneath the basket. Like Kevin with some more bulk he will only get better. It will great to have Timmy back to come off the bench for Garibay. He had a very solid freshman year. I’m not sure about the future of Brad and Terron. Brad works his ass off but he has zero offensive game. He gets to the line but his free throw percentage is poor. Watching Terron over the summer I just didn’t see the drive in him to improve his game. I think if we can get a talented freshman power forward or center we should go for him.
In sum, it’s a really difficult time to be a Lion fan. We will probably only get one, maybe two more wins this season. (Peppy or USF at home) Our record will be one of the worst in the nation. Don’t worry; things will look much better soon with a full talented roster.
