ironlions & duke -
I do think you owe Mr. Derek a bit of an apology - he put up 12 points tonight and did his part. But, all kidding aside - Congrats to all!
At the end of the game Teel went to center court and kissed the M in LMU. Not very sanitary - but a touching gesture none the less.

One very ugly thing from tonight. When Rob Jones was shooting free throws people in ROAR started chanting "Jonestown". I hope this never happens again. This is one of the most vile things I have ever heard. I was truly ashamed. Have a little class. Go Lions That is absolutely horrible. Those fans should be ashamed of themselves to the fullest.

GOD what a great game. I was impressed with just about all the players tonight. They played their hearts out. We definatley wanted more than USD. The Toreros seemed stunned at how our guys were playing. The crowd was small but loud and that definatley helped during the game. Player of the game in my opinion=Vernon Teel His line: 21 Points, 9 Rebounds, 8 Assists and 2 steals one of which was the catch of the entry past at the end of the game that sealed it. He played like a champ. Our guys played a great game and I cannot wait for the start of next year's season with everyone playing. I had a chance to talk to Edgar Garibay and told him "I wanna see you out there next year", and he said "ya I'll be here." With him and given joining everyone else, the lions will be mean next year. I'm stoked for the win and can't wait for the next.
Go Lions

It was a phenomenal game. Everyone played their role perfectly, and Teel was incredible (except for the 6 turnovers). Let's hope the momentum can carry into Saturday...

Game notes:
Only 1 minute and 30 seconds into the contest, like the stereotype of a 1950’s male arriving home form a hard day at the office, dapper Coach Max Good sheds his coat flinging it, ritualistically, the length of the bench where it comes to rest in the lap of Trainer Keith Ellison.
Good to see Good abandon zone-defense, since it doomed them in the last few minutes of their prior tussle in San Diego, when Coach stubbornly refused to switch to man-to-man defensive as Los Toreros arced in threes in the disappearing minutes of that close encounter.
Entire team played well with sturdy Man-to-man defense, aggressive ball pursuit, and an increased offensive efficiency sparked by passes off drives to the basket, instead of the usual drive-to-the-basket-and-shoot-the ball-despite-the-octopus-defense-blocking-your-progress-mentality that had plagued the team until this juncture of the season.
No more than 60 fresh faced students present in the student section…I counted. So, although not condoning the chant directed at Rob Jones, I wouldn’t be too harsh on the lads and lassies since they cobbled together the two hours of time needed to come out and support the team and 7,571 other students didn’t.
Now, how to deal with Bryant?

I remember those days. On one hand, it made heckling much easier to hear. On the other hand, it was disgraceful.... Not too many students can say they were there when we broke Gonzaga's winning streak back in 2003. That was such a good feeling. As for the turn around, I wish I could have watched it, but of course it would be the ONE game we don't get televised....well, let's just hope the guys have finally figured out the key to breaking past their shallow bench and young team issues. I hope the SCU game tomorrow is exciting!

Any student that utilizes a massacre in which 900+ people died, including hundreds of children, for their own benefit (specifically, for a college basketball player to clang a free throw) should have stayed home that night and reflect on the choices they've made make them think such an action would be ok.
It's a sad day to be associated with this university.

Its too bad this great win is tainted by these jerks. Luckily there was only about 10 guys chanting it. If any of you read this board I suggest you be a man and send Rob Jones a letter of apology. I'm sure he is on facebook.

Congrats Lions, Not just because it helps us in the WCC standings but you guy's were long overdue for a win. Way to beat "GU South" and I hope this propels the team to a few more W's in WCC play. Thanks for the updates Ironlion's. The Pilot's didn't exactly have a shining season last year. With the talent you guys have coming in......I'm sure it will be much different next year. MesaPilot1

She was always good about talking to us when we got out of control or said something the Jesuits would disapprove of.

OKay, I'm lit up, but I still want to send a message to Ironlions Shrestha.
1. Helluva win for moral purposes. One more of these and I will begin to believe in your selling of believe in next year. It could actually work. Young can rebound. The kid seems like he has the potential to be a dominant board cleaner in this league. He should not be shooting the three, but we will have other guys taking those next year anyway.
2. The Jones kid is more impressive a young man than you give him credit for. Is it embarrassing that kids that go to the same school as we did are sneeringly referencing a holocaust on a kid playing in front of 900 "Jesuits"? Unfortunately. Does this kid need you and others to send him a facebook apology? Probably not. He will hear that against other schools, and he seems like he's dealt with it pretty well his whole life. I wanted him at LMU, and I think Tention went after him pretty hard?
3. What's going on with the new picture on the top off this website? Is this not supposed to turn me on? Am I supposed to throw up in my mouth if it makes me think about Sigfried and Roy? Has the economic recession hit Nepal hard?

If people want to apologize to Marko, they can start by getting his name right. MARKO DERIC, not MARCO DEREK.
