I think we are only 20 point underdogs so it should be a better game than against Gonzaga. With the way the Lions were playing the two preceding games, I (almost) would have bet they would have beat the 35 point spread of the odds makers but our offense collapsed and we didn't (37 point loss). The Gonzaga big guys intimidated lots on inside the paint shots by Derichs and Armstead.

Great effort tonight by the Lions... it was not looking good for us for a long stretch of the 2nd half. You have some great young talent, and whoever you play in Vegas better watch out...!!

After the ripples board was fantasizing about an Assbury coach of the year award they were promptly taken out to lunch by the purple pilots, I think losing by some 40 points. Using kitten paw math there, huh? haha. 1. Lost by 29, not 'some 40'. 2. If Asbury is elderly, "Good" most certainly is his bridge partner as Asbury graduated college in '68, "Good" in '69. Don't know their DOB's, but this data should be enough kibbles 'n bits for you to chew on.

Wow. These Pepperdine kids really get their rocks off coming onto our board and talking down to us.
Thanks Pilotnut. That was very humble of you. We did play one heck of a game. I almost thought we had it, but it seemed as if that one last scoring run we did was the last ounce of energy we had - we just couldn't quite finish the game after that huge push. Unfortunate, but it shows that, with everything going against us, we've FINALLY figured out how to make it last through some of the second half....good job, Lions...
I have to say - I can't believe how well our Lions are keeping their heads up. Nothing can get them down right now, it seems. That, in itself, is incredibly impressive....

pdine, keep it coming I thought it was a great comment. Even know I don't like Pepperdine because I am an LMU fan, I love the rivalry and clean trash talk.
All I have to say is don't get used to beating us. When we are at full strength you will have no chance.
Next year I will make a bet with a Pepperdine fan that who ever's team wins the losing person has to wear the opposing teams colors.

There's nothing more I want for the WCC than for both of our schools to both get back to the top.

I am for LMU but let's look at Pepperdine with rational glasses on. Pepperdine's roster carries 8 freshmen, 4 sophomores, 0 juniors and 3 seniors. Scoring per game by class: Freshmen - 35.9 Sophomore - 18.7 Seniors - 13.4 Freshmen include Moore at center 6'10" 240 (30 ppg). Pepperdine has 9 victories with this young squad, including two wins over our guys and a win over Santa Clara two days before we "almost" beat them. So these guys will be competitive in the coming years. I sat next to Bell's mom at the Pepperdine game at LMU, she is a great fan and showed it. This young man, Bell, a 6'3" guard from LA, was a game changer as a freshman, coming through when the Waves needed scores, and rebounds, and steals, etc. So he is a keeper. We are in a similar position but it is hard to compare given our injuries and Redshirts. Maybe, LMU-Peppedine will be the ESPN game of the week in coming years? Let's both hope.

Look closer at the 9 wins; CSMB- D 2 school Coppin state- a 2 point win over a school that was 1-11 at the time WOU-D 2 school LMU ( Two wins over us ) SD ( Who even we beat) SCU ( Who we almost beat) 9 wins is huge compared to our 2, and there is one or two very talented freshman on the team but they have a very long way to go.

wrschnicke,
I worked at the high school Bell first went to. I am not dening his talent, but I guarantee, he will be caught up in some sort of scandal. He is definately not at Pepperdine for academics. Plus Pepperdine almost lost to us with a full roster.

Hey, interesting responses. Pepperdine did have some players determined to win, not unlike our guys who are playing without quit. I'm ignorant of Bell's background but sorry to hear that he is not into the classroom scene. In any case, I think Pepperdine will hold their own (behind LMU of course) next season. Caveat: nothing notable in their recruiting, one 6'3" point guard rated a 40 (which means no info available to do a proper rating).

Actually Pepperdine does not have much size inside and that will come back to haunt them in the future.
