This will be a interesting game. USF has a very thin bench like us. Their coach suspended a number of players recently for insubordination. The key is trying to hold down Dior. Will be interesting to see how Kwame plays in Gersten. I hope the fans/Roar give him a nice round of applause. I'm excited to see the Lions tonight.
Let's beat the Dons.
Go Lions.

Agree ironlions this should be an exciting game. Lions are only 5.5 point underdog - closest spread in some time. If Sweezy and Derichs can control Lowhorn a bit (under 20 points?) and if DuBois's shot is on, we can pull this one out. Maybe Derichs can hit a few jumpers early? Unfortunately, watch for Sweezy to foul out near the end as he plays a tough game inside.

Found this on ESPN... sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3936146Loyola Marymount plus-5.5 at home against San FranciscoFor instance, San Fran, whose coach suspended four players recently, is fresh off a win against Santa Clara, the Dons biggest rival. Now it takes on Marymount and the motivation for going down there is not high. They just beat their big rival, from ten behind in the second half and five in OT. Because of that they figure to let down against Marymount in a game that means nothing. Marymount is a freshman-laden team but it plays hard every night. Max Good demands it. It has shown a lot of fight and this is a winnable game. Getting five-and-a-half is fair and I expect a motivated Marymount to beat a flat San Fran team.

Not televised....unless they've changed the schedule. The last chance we have to watch it on TV is Saturday.

I'll take it. If I remember correctly, the tiebreaker after head to head is record against the first place team on down. With USD winning, they'll be tied with SCU, leaving the whole thing one huge mosh pit until Saturday.

Good way to close out the season. These players are not giving up and growing a lot. It's hard not to be excited about next season.

I would have been really pissed if we let this one slip away. Not a pretty game but I'll take the W. Teel seemed to be in a different world until the second half. Marco made me furious so many times but he did a decent job on on letting Dior scoring 40 on us. Nice games by everyone.
Highlight of the game was JD's spin move that made Dior fall down. Lowlight was Rex Walters kicking the plexi glass ads on the side line while Corey took a 3. The refs were some of the worst I have ever seen.

Mea culpa - yes its Deric - I was thinking phonetically and probably also mixed up Marco with Tin Diederichs (sorry Tim). We won, leading the entire game (USF did tie the game late and caused much nail biting) and held on with key free throws late and a stiffling defense. Defense was the key to this win - USF was off balance all night, missed lots of shots and even missed some important free throws. Thank Max Good and Myke for their great coaching in this area. Regarding my early comments above, Sweezy and Deric did control Lowhorn down low - he made a fair portion of his shots with outside jumpers, including at least one 3 pointer. Lowhorn was held to 16 points. DuBois's shot was on and he came through with 17 points setting a new freshman season scoring record in the process before fouling out. The PA announcer was asleep at the switch and failed to mention the record during the game. Deric did make his first jumper very early but then was done offensively for the evening. Corey Counts picked up the scoring with 13 important points tonight. Armstead struggled inside when trying to go too low under the basket and had many shots blocked. However, I think the refs missed several fouls on Armstead when he was low, instead calling them blocks or jump balls. Armstead did find his mid range jumper, a key offensive tool for him at his size and ended up in double figures on offense. He quietly plays a great defense and rebounds well - a solid game. Teel did not start - maybe he is in the coach's doghouse or maybe the coaches are trying to teach him patience. And in his first appearance, he was yanked after about 2 minutes when he was trying to do too much on his own. Later in the game, he showed more patience and dished off several nice assists, including a Young dunk. And when called on some questionable fouls, Teel kept his cool nicely and did not let it affect his game. He is growing under the coaches teachings and the team is better for it. Sweezy made a jumper and a layup and did not foul out - but he did play tough defense on Lowhorn who was very frustrated by the end of the game. Attendance was low especially on the student side - disappointing with the team playing so well right now. Their confidence level is sky high and ready for the WCC tournament. As someone said, we're peaking at the right time. Suppose we win the WCC tournament - its not likely but now I think its a possibility - would that peak Vinson's interest seeing LMU in the NCAA 64?

Congrats on the win.
Yeah, I'd be pissed as a fan seeing an opposing coach kick our ads.

wrschickne, So because the Lions take down San Francisco at home you think we can now win the WCC tournament?? Come on now.. lets take off the rose colored glasses.
I will be in Vegas cheering on the Lions, but I would be lying if I think we have the talent to beat any of the top 3 teams on a neutral court.
Great win tonight though. I am so happy for the guys. Any win this season is a plus. Next year they will be in Vegas to win it. P.S. if everyone played as hard as Kevin Young, the team will have no problem succeeding in the future.
