8-)LMU is the host of this prestigious event for premier high school basketball players. I went by Gersten to see if any pickup games were happening but found a crowded parking lot and lots of tall young men going in and out of the Gersten scene. There won't be pick up games this week as play is scheduled on all three courts in Gersten from 9 am to 10 pm and Burns is the warm up area (at least for now). These players are young and some are tough and all have a way to go to develop into college quality players. I saw some great basketball being played and some sloppy games. Teams from all over the nation are here - I saw Indiana, Illinois (Old School), Portland, Utah, Cal Supreme, Mater Dei, and KWA. I think these are select teams from their respecitve locations. Entry is $10 for the day. Lots of parents were in the limited stands with many top prospects in the outside corridor. In addition to Gersten, team are playing their way up their respective ladders at CSU Dominguez Hills (4 courts) and atr The HAX (5 courts). I could not find a meaningful schedule but the finals on Thursday and Friday are at Gersten. Great use of the recruiting coaches time during the summer and a feather in the cap of LM! www.doublepump.com/tournaments.html

Great chance for the kids and familiar to get acquainted to our beautiful campus. Hopefully they'll remember the good times when Good and company come calling.

My thoughts exactly fanblade - and the kids number in the thousands, many with parents in tow, from all over the country. LMU is on their map now. Let's get some wins next season and grab their attention as recruits.

How about having a nice, up to date, USABLE locker rooms to get some attention. 90% of high schools have better locker room facilities then LMU.

Please pledge your support to lionsfund so we can make upgrading the locker rooms a priority if you haven't already. I agree.

I talked to someone in adminstration near the end of last year's school year, and they told me that the plan was to begin building the new locker rooms\weight training facility once the new library was finished. Now that is done(opened up a couple days ago, check it out, it is AMAZING) this is the next big project for Lmu. I'm not sure if the date has been pushed back because of the economy, but I do know we have been kicking ass in our Capital Campaign, so we should see some progress sooner than later.
