As I checked my facebook this morning, I found that Given Kalipinde had commented on one of my status. I asked him how basketball has been going. Here is how the conversation went.
Me: . . .hows basketball going so far?
Given: cool man, basketball is going good right now. everyone is healthy except me and larry for now. i know larry is going to be healthy once we start team practice. and i just had my MRI and i get my results soon. but the team looks good though.
Me:that sucks. what did you hurt? larry recovered pretty fast. good stuff
Given: yeah larry's recovery is quicker than everyone anticipated but he has been working hard rehabbing it too. well i have synovitis bylaterall patella in both my knees which requires pain killers drugs and rest i hear. its in both my knees. i have no idea how it even started.
Good News: Larry recovered MUCH sooner than anticipated and will be ready for the start of team practice. Given also thinks the team looks good.
Bad News: Given is hurt and it is up in the air about how long hes going to be out.

I figure that since he is only taking pain killers and rest...it should not last too long...hopefully!

I figure that since he is only taking pain killers and rest...it should not last too long...hopefully! After doing some googling the best wrap-up is as follows. -if it is as described, it should only require pain killers, rest, and rehab (also looks like alterations to diet might help as well). -this is probably related to overworking himself (playing two sports in HS at a high level takes its toll) as opposed to direct injury, although it could span to a non basketball related issue like infection. -most importantly, doesn't look like surgery would be involved. *one side note is this is assuming the MRI comes back negative, if it doesn't then we might have a lot more to worry about.
