Apologies if this has already been posted, but I was looking at ESPN's 30 For 30 site (ESPN has produced 30 sports documentaries by various Hollywood directors in celebration of its 30th anniversary) and noticed that one of them will be about Hank and Bo and Westhead and their time at LMU. It's titled "Gurus of Go" and is directed by Bill Couturie. They have a site set up for it if you want to read a bit about the film: 30for30.espn.com/film/gurus-of-go.htmlYou can’t make this stuff up. In fact, that’s the yardstick I use to measure great doc material – is it too amazing to be fiction? The story of Gathers, Westhead and Kimble, set against the Loyola years and the run at a national title, is too dramatic to NOT be real. As a fictional film, it is over-the-top. But as a doc, it’s pure gold. Everything I hear about this 30 For 30 series makes it sound like it's going to be really, really cool and tell a lot of stories that people don't know about, and it's awesome that they will be reminding the country about this story. Should come out some time in 2010.

Wow, should be a great watch. It's definitely a quintessential sports tale.

Can't wait to watch it. Westhead's philosophy was pure genius (not just on the court, but off the court, as well, from running the sand dunes in Manhattan Beach to having an NFL defensive coach teach the techniques of face-guarding during the full-court press).
But none of the magic would have happened had USC not foolishly fired Stan Morrison after Hank and Bo's freshman year at USC. Thank you, Trojans, for launching memories that are anything but fiction.
