The funniest part of that article: "This challenge will encourage and promote a positive[/i][/u] atmosphere on both campuses, while ensuring the values of sportsmanship and what it means to be a Lion."[/color] Uhhhhhhhhhhh...positive? HOW? I do, however, think it'd be incredibly important for Pepperdine to know what it's like to be a Lion. (Sorry...the English teacher in me is being critical of the sentence structure.)

It's okay. They've nothing better to do up on that hill, since they can't drink or get into the dorms of the opposite sex. Now, wouldn't it be nice if they actually cared about beating any other team besides us? Ever notice that they really DON'T beat any other team but us?

Cagegirl,
Can you please change this signature before we start taking trash.
I love my Lions. We may stink, but at least we do it with heart.
Go Lions

Ever notice that they really DON'T beat any other team but us? Care to re-word that statement?

Cagegirl - listen to ironlioins please - you come off as negative in your postings - I am sure you don't mean to be a downer but it appears you like this confrontational approach in your postings. Lighten up please! This is for fun not for the Ultimate Fighting Championship!

I'm merely saying that it seems that every year in basketball, they end up on the bottom, often with us, and the only team they actually beat is us. In fact, I can't recall the exact year, but I do remember that there was a year when they had only won two games - the ones where they played us. Over the years I've been a fan (which isn't as long as some of you, I know), I have gotten this feeling that the only team they seem to really care about beating (and by that, I mean put every ounce of heart and energy into it) is LMU.
The fact that they are already talking smack on a forum kind of shows that they are more intense about this rivalry than LMU is.

I would love for someone to figure out what the result of this cup would have been the past few years if it was in place. (I don't think I will like the results - but it's good to know where we would have been standing.)
Also - we are now tied 1.5 to 1.5 in the "race". Water polo has won 1 game and lost 1 game to them - and soccer tied. (hence the 1/2 point).
Anyone know why they don't have a men's soccer team? Seems odd that they are the only ones in the WCC without one.
And finally - I agree with the group - crazycage should change her signature - at least to start the season with some positive energy. I would recommend "I love my Lions. We kick ass and do it with heart."

The results for the past few years like 4 or 5 would be pretty even. Pepperdine may have had out number in men's basketball and tennis but we've dominated swimming, women's basketball and more than held our own in track, soccer, etc.

Back in my day, we had one year where more LMU student fans made the trip up to Fieldhouse and EASILY had more student fans than we did. Nevertheless we lost and all 20 of their student fans started talking S*it. They are a bunch of little punks, let's crush them this year!

Pretty clear to me why Pepp fans place a lot of precedence lately in beating you.... Sad confession that we've joined you in the basement (we did well up until the early 2000's), and if we can't beat the "almighty" GU in MBB, succeeding in our historical rivalry with you is the next best thing.
And why shouldn't it be? Rekindling the hate has made these sub-par seasons more entertaining for everyone involved.
On the flipside, here's to hoping we both get back to the top of the conference together in MBB, so there will be even more of an investment in our rivalry. Plus, I'm sick of reading the garbage coming from the lunatic wing of Zag fans.

I remember the year they made it a rush requirement for sorority hopefuls to attend the LMU/Pepperdine bball game at the Fieldhouse. That was a GREAT night. We DEFINITELY dominated in presence when we had student fans on BOTH sides of the gyms. Very tastefully said, pdine. I'd add my own input, but it's kind of realistically negative, and apparently I'll get beat down for saying anything that isn't positive...sooooooo I'll save it for later.

And Pepperdine takes the lead 2.5 to 1.5. Volleyball got crushed up in Malibu tonight.

The last Volleyball game we won was a month ago. We have lost our last 7 - and 5 of those we were shut out. So, sadly, I have to agree alert2. We are awful.
