I had heard about the scrimmage but didn't even try and get in to watch because I knew these are very top secret. I did think about hiding in the rafters.

UC San Bernado is an excellent DII school who was in the final four DII champioonships 2 year ago and a 25 game winner last year losing in the first round of the NCAA DII tourney last year. They speciallize in DI transfer talent and will win 25 this year too. Have several Pros from their ranks. So, a very good DII program and a good test.
Reports are we played well and won handily, by 10+ points. Drew Viney lit up the floor for 25+ and Teel was everywhere. UCSB has a collapsing Defense that is frenetic and we were able to handle it well (N.Dakota has the same D). We were without JD, Hamilton, Davis, Reilly, and Quincy. Deidrich played OK, still getting his feel back but had a couple of good power moves, KY was his usual frenetic self, making several patented dunks, steals and rebounds (and few throw away TOs) Osborne and Given looked like rookies but got good playing time, Garibay was "OK" but is coming off 8 days of rest and will show up much bigger in the next one, LaRon was "O.K"..
Overal, lthe Coaches seem satisfied with the team progress at this juncture.

From info on the Cal State San Bernardino website, I expect LMU had an interesting scrimmage yesterday and coaches have a better idea of where the team stands at this point. Coyotes re-arm for 2009-10 title push Practice begins Thursday for team with 10 newcomers on 17-man roster Cal State San Bernardino’s men’s basketball team kicks off practice for the 2009-10 season Thursday with 17 players, 10 of whom are newcomers to a program that returns just one starter back from last year’s CCAA conference tri-champion team. The Coyotes, as usual, expect to achieve nothing less than a conference championship and go deep into the NCAA tournament. It’s become a tradition. Since 1998-99, the Coyotes have won or shared eight CCAA titles and advanced to the NCAA tournament 10 times. Head Coach Jeff Oliver said the players have worked “really hard in individual workouts and conditioning so effort will not be an issue with this team. It’s an extremely enjoyable group to work with.” CSUSB is coming off a 20-10 season, a share of the CCAA regular season title with Cal Poly Pomona and Humboldt State and a banner for winning the conference tournament. The downside was losing in the regional quarterfinals to the Broncos. Instead of relying on a talented big man to lead them since 6-7 all-CCAA and all-West Region center Brandon Brown (21.5 ppg, 8.7 rpg) passed up his senior year to play pro basketball in Lithuania, the Coyotes will be using a variety of weapons this season to make up what Brown left behind. How the Coyotes accomplish that will be up to the coach. “It’s up to me figuring out what we’re going to do offensively and defensively and develop an identity. It will take time to develop that,” said Oliver, back for his eighth season at the helm. Relying on community college transfers and NCAA Div. I bouncebacks is nothing new at Cal State San Bernardino and the coaching staff has gone out and recruited another group of blue-chip transfers to bolster its title hopes for the coming season that begins Nov. 11 with an exhibition against Westmont College at Xavier Prep Academy in Palm Desert. More on their better players at this link: csusbathletics.com/news/2009/10/14/MBB_1014090029.aspxTheir 2009 2010 Roster shows 5 Seniors, 9 Juniors, 1 Grad student and 1 Sophomore, tallest is 6'7". csusbathletics.com/news/2009/10/14/MBB_1014090029.aspxPepperdine is on their regular season schedule on Nov 20 - not an exhibition. csusbathletics.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball&schedule=41&

I would say the key from the game was missed free throws. We couldnt have shot better than 50% from the line and probably missed 15 total

Thanks Waterboy - I must have been writing my comments at the same time you sent your nice note so it looks a bit duplicative of your info. Glad to hear Viney played so well and Teel was his energetic self. I am thinking Teel is a game player, but not a good practice player. Perhaps Kevin also. Yes I noted one of the CSUSB players from last year gave up his senior year of eligibility to play PRO in Europe. He had averaged over 21 ppg 9 rebounds per game in his junior season. Said he needed the money to support his family.
