Exhibition season has started! Happy to finally post our first game thread. Seems like this off-season dragged on forever. But then again, compared to last year's non-stop drama that is probably a good thing. Last year we easily defeated Hope, which didn't say much, because Hope was a very bad NAIA team. This year I'd expect similar results. Hopefully we'll see good play but ultimately it's going to be hard to really judge much from this exhibition. Hope won its first two games and has two bigs from Serbia. They are riding for a fall! Should be fun to watch in any case. athletics.hiu.edu/

lmufan, I like your optimism but I highly doubt that tonight's exhibition will be a sell-out. You should be able to purchase tickets at the game, or you can call (310) 338-LION. I'll be there with a few more LMU fans. Go Lions!

Will we see everyone besides probably not Larry Davis?
Looking forward to it.

Larry's not expected back until the Montana trip next week. JD may play limited minutes. Ashley is still out - probably another two weeks. Quincy is questionable. Other than that - we should be good to go.

The athletics web site is saying that Quincy and Ashley will not be playing.

The same article says Larry is not playing. I expect to see JD, but might not play a lot of minutes, as he's still nursing an injury as well.
However - I'm looking forward to seeing what the freshman bring to the game, as well as how Tim has healed.

I heard that Quincy might need surgery on his hip and will be redshirting.

I had lunch with Larry yesterday. Really nice guy. He said that he went through a full practice yesterday, but was a bit sore after. The coaches don't want to rush him, but he is definitely ahead of schedule.
He said that Jarred should play today. Drew just strained his groin a bit and should be fine for today.
Ashley, however, may have tore his meniscus. They are just being cautious and having him get an MRI. He is walking in fine , so they think he should be alright and may have just tweaked it.
Can't wait for the game

Larry said he might play today, but it will be a gametime decision.

Wow, I would be WAAAY surprised if Larry plays. I just can't see coach risking LD rushing the rehab, and risking a set back, for an exhibition game.
But - we'll see.

I hate hearing about all these injuries so early in the season. However, they all seem minor and players being held out for precautionary measure. I really hope Ash's injury is only a tweak...he will really open some eyes this season.
I'm literally looking at the clock at my desk waiting for game time!

After last year, the word "injury" will make all of us twitch. However - Larry's is from last spring, and is almost healed. The others aren't that unusual for basketball. Ash's meniscus and Given's knee issues are standard - and usually just require rest/physical therapy. Viney's groin injury shouldn't cause concern, and JD's foot problems seem to be manageable. A team expects certain nagging problems - and maybe one or two injuries that actually sideline a player. If we can keep it to that - we should be OK>
I'd recommend wrapping our key players in bubble paper between games.

With the amount of practice they have at the start of the season these kind of nagging injuries are to be expected.
Bubble paper and lots of prayers.
