I was only able to follow the game on espn.com (a very un-gratifying way to follow a close game) and was totally impressed and surprised by the impact Davis had on the game, given that the last thing I read had him sitting out the early part of the season. Did I miss something? Was that a bit of secret weapon strategy by Max? Can anyone comment on how he looked in the game? Despite the loss, I find I'm having to restrain my excitement. Understatement as follows: It's nice to have a season with a little bit of potential.

ESPN Gametracker was really lame last evening, especially in the second half. Showed the halftime score well into the 2nd half so you had no sense of what was going on. Couldn't you get the webcast of the Jeff Lampke broadcast? There is a link on the Men's BB site - you choose Schedule and select tonight's game. The broadcast comes thru your computer speakers.
I share your excitement. Also surprised that Davis played, came into the game with 10 minutes left in the first half and outscored everyone. I expect more scoring from Viney tonight. At one point, we had a three guard offense - Davis, DuBois and Teel with Viney and Garibay - but not for long. What's wrong with Diederichs? 1st half, 4.5 minutes, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 2 Personal fouls? Has the layoff affected his game that much? Or has the talent level simply improved beyond Tim's potential? He had such a consistent Freshman year two years ago. And I would like to get a lead this evening and see some of Osborne, Kalipinde and Hamilton. They need the experience before the WCC season. I understand coaches wanted to win the Boise game and went with our best, most experienced players last night but Garibay played a significant role in his first year. Will Davis continue to come off the bench or will he get the start? In place of whom? UND is not as big as the other two teams in the tourney so maybe we go with three guards? And will Garibay start for Tim?

My guess is Osborne, Kalipinde and Hamilton are all RS candidates so coaches are monitoring their minutes for now before pulling the trigger.

duke - Hamilton already used his redshirt season. I think you get only one. With Anthony Ireland coming next year to bolster our roster of guards, I don't see any advantage to Redshirt for Kalipinde. Besides he can contribute now. Osborne perhaps - but I am hearing the Lawson is more likely to Redshirt.
One other thought, we haven't seen Sweeney yet either - he can contribute in his own way, more on defense than offense so maybe we needed all the offense we could get last night to keep up with Boise.

Sweezy has no business being on the court in tight games. Sorry. Maybe the coaches just really wanted to win so did not try to use the entire bench which makes sense. A win over boise as our first game would have been so huge for momentum.

The only person who is should be red shirting this year is Lawson.

Lawson cannot redshirt unless he gets hurt very quickly since he played last night against Boise State. Thus, only a medical redshirt available and that only happens if you have an injury and you play in less than 10% of the games.
