Very quietly, Seattle signed 6'10", 230 pound power forward Charles Garcia from Dorsey High by way of Riverside CC.
Here's the deal. Garcia was signed by Lorenzo Romar at Washington but was declined admisson, questioning his ..."overall body of work..." even though he met UW academic standards. Seattle coach Cameron Dollar, who recruited Garcia at UW, quickly grabbed him away fron Syracuse and several otther top programs.
Did it pay off? In Seattle's lone exibition, Garcia went for 21 points on 70% shooting, with 9 rebounds, on turnover and one personal foul in 21 minutes against Pacific Lutheran.
Question? Is Seattle lowering the normally high Jesuit admission standards to build RPI and provide another reason to get into the WCC? A full DI schedule this year, and recruiting for next year will provide the answer.
