Here is the defensive challenge I purpose. For every point above let say 30 AofA scores; the Lions run suicides.

For every ten points A of A scores, we each take a shot after the game.

Agree irishlion, you only pull the starters once they show they can play together. All I'm saying is that if we are up 40 with 10 minutes to play, Viney, Teel, Young, DuBois should NOT be in the game. If we are up 40, the starters will have indeed shown, at least for one night, that they can play together.
We have already lost two of our top six players. No reason to risk any further damage at the end of the game IF we are indeed blowing them out. That's all I'm saying.
Then again, if we do NOT blow them out, this message board will be very interesting to read on Thursday....GO LIONS!
I'm predicting 121-67.

Then again, in their last two games the Academy of Arts scored a combined 56 points! So if they score 67 against us, we truly are a horrific defensive team.
Here's to hoping we keep them under 50. Go Lions!

Lets say 89 to 35 - more like history would predict - but we could get 100 against these guys unless they slow the game down.

Hey, we both picked a 54-point margin, wr.
Let's hope we don't play to the level of the competition. As long as we just take care of business and, as everyone has said, play "team ball", I will be pleased.

Plus it is the next tailgate game! Wish it wasn't on a Wednesday though. We need some weekend home games for tailgating. We will see if the USC win will bring out a good crowd.
Go Lions

…Boycotting this tilt and all others like it since LMU has been on the lopsided side of meet ups like this too many times during my existence. Nothing to learn basketball wise for the players, maybe a life lesson or two evident down the road…Perhaps the Urban Knights are reading Vonnegut’s “Slaughter House Five” or Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle” in preparation. I’ll spend my time walking the dogs, listening to Kraftwerk’s “Autobahn” and Bill Frisell’s “Ghost Town/Poem For Eva”, over and over, because there are life lessons still unlearned.

Until you see Latimer play in a real game, you shouldn't make disparaging comments. He's a true gamer. He was Captain of the Windward High School Basketball team. His teams averaged 27 wins per season. He was their best defensive player and three point shooter, and he's a tough rebounder. He choose LMU because help likes the school. Any by the way, his sister is captain of the UCLA women team, his brother plays at St. Francis, his father played pro in Europe, and his uncle is head coach of an ACC team. The kid is a humble kid who just wants to help his school and team win.

Latimer is a good guy and works hard. However I have an issue with us having so many walk ons on the team. I think there should be one- two at most.

The purpose of a walkon, from a basketball program view point, is to have the bodies for practice. To be able to run some of the team drills, or position drills, you need extra bodies. And you don't want a coach filling the role, as he should be watching and .... coaching.
After last years experiences, I welcome all the walkons we can get. These guys work hard, have a great attitude, and have little, to no, expectation of playing. They just love the game, and want to be part of the experience. Now - there are walkons that DO have an expectation of making the team, and possibly earning a scholarship. And historically, our coaches have provided the opportunity and rewarded the effort.
Was anyone watching warmups Saturday? One of our walk ons (Daniel) was working out Viney for a pretty significant amount of time. Giving him extra shots, touches and helping him get focused before the game. Another benefit.
Regarding the post above about Daniel - When I say play the starters until they get it right - that isn't a smack to the walkons. I truly, truly appreciate them and love when they get minutes in a game, because I know they've earned it. But my priorities right now are getting the top 5-7 players in competitive form. Then we reward the role players.
